Yep, and Wholesale Chess ships any order over $50 for free. So, shipping cost won't apply. It might really be time to pull the trigger on a chronos.

But the big question for me is, have the repair problems been solved? I won't be interested unless the answer is yes.

All this is is a PSA -- if you WANT a Chronos, you need to act FAST, Wholesale Chess has this sale going on till the 25th, I seriously doubt their supply will last that long -- too many people having been waiting to buy one of these clocks.

I have had a Chronos that I use twice a week and have had it now for about 4 years with no problems. Most people who own a CHRONOS also have not had any problems with them, and they have had theirs long than I have. They are built like tanks. I bought a second clock as a backup clock a year or two later, which was just when the pipeline started to dry up.  The biggest problem with LCDs -- ALL LCDs, not just those from CHRONOS -- is the display itself. For the most part so long as you don't put them in direct sunlight or keep them in hot environment (like a car during the summer) they work just fine. If you take care of your equipment it will take care of you.

If YOU want a CHRONOS, then you need to place an order within the next fews days. I think the last time Wholesale Chess got clocks in they were out within 4 days; If you have reservations about buying a clock then DON'T buy. It is as simple as that. I am sure the clock that you don't buy the guy behind you will thank you very much for allowing him to buy what would have been your clock.

From the rumors I have heard the people who make the CHRONOS moved to a new location in part to service clocks that need to be serviced, but more importantly, in order to produce more clocks, it was this move to the new facilities that caused the current drought in finding ANY CHRONOS clocks -- CHRONOS II or CHRONOS GX; push button or "touch sensor". Right now from the info I received all Wholsale Chess has gotten in is the CHRONOS II (the L-O-N-G clock) both in Push Button, and Touch Sensor models. Buy or don't buy, I'll be very surprised if they last a week before they are SOLD OUT again, and then who knows when the next batch will come in. I suspect it will take about a year before the pipeline will be full once again, and you'll be able to buy one at any time, but for the time being, expect small shipments to come in, that sell out very quickly followed by a drought of undeterminable length before the next batch arrives.

Best of luck

As an aside, here is my GUESS of how many Chronos Clocks Wholesale Chess received: Wholesale Chess mentioned that they received a LIMITED SUPPLY.  Normally they are sold in lots of ten, my GUESS is that they received one or two lots of each color, for each model, which would put their total inventory between 60 - 120 clocks. (30 - 60 Push Button; 30-60 Touch Sensor). If Wholsale Chess sells 5 clocks per day, their supply would last 12 - 24 days; if they have a run on the clocks selling 10 clocks a day, they will be SOLD OUT of all clocks in 6 to 12 days. My GUESS is that they will have sold ALL the clocks (both push button AND touch sensor combined) that came in within 1 - 2 weeks.

Hope this helps

I appreciate the PSA. At least that tells me they're being sold again, if only in limited quantities. I do want a Chronos, but I don't WANT a Chronos. If it takes a year or two to find out if a defective unit can be repaired, that's fine with me; I can wait. And if I never get one, I don't think I'll lose any sleep over it. (There are other clocks that actually work too!) OK, I expect someone here to thank me for passing and letting him buy his Chronos. Smile

I just checked all the other major suppliers. So far Wholesale Chess is the ONLY one to have any Chronos Clocks available. I suspect this situation to change as more clocks become available and the pipeline begins to re-fill over the coming months, but for the time being, Wholesale Chess is the ONLY game in town.

They are now only listing beige push button, beige touch sensor, and black touch sensor, so it looks like your guess that they will sell out fast was a good one.

Holy Molly!! Assuming 1 lot (10) of each color of each model that means that in 15 hours they ran through in excess of 30 clocks!!! It is entirely possible come this time tomorrow night they will have SOLD OUT their entire inventory. UNBELIEVABLE !!!!

Wakshe

I called in at closing yesterday and bought a blue touch sensor one and this morning they were already down to those three... so within 20 hours. Glad I got on their newsletter!

Heh i perfer zmf whith cool led color n cheaper about half price.. I hav mine for two years..the plastic is still holding strong

azbobcat

It is getting pretty UGLY out there: Now all that Wholesale Chess has left is the Beige Push Button and the Beige Touch Sensor clocks. Assuming 10 clocks per color per lot, and assuming they gor in only one lot per color per model, that means they have blown through 40+ clocks. I suspect it is closer to 50+ clocks. My adjusted calls says they will be out by Tues. UNBELIEVABLE !!!!

Here are the EXACT numbers of clocks that Wholesale Chess still has on hand:

Beige Push Button:    1

Beige Touch Sensor: 8

I thought I would help with this PSA and *try* to answer your -- and others -- question about fixing the Chronos.

While I and many, many others have never had a problem with our Chronos clocks even though we have had them for 5+ years, others have not been that lucky. I metioned why I was hopeful that the pipeline would fill again and getting your clocks fixed would become a non-issue. Here is an earlier post from last year that might explain both the drought in finding any clocks as well as getting them fixed:

Are you having trouble finding a Chronos Clock to purcahse?  Recently DCI Game Clocks has moved their production facility which has casued a delay in production.  They hope to be back up soon.

Wholesale Chess has the Blue GX Button model in stock now and is expecting a few more models/colors to be available on Wednesday, the 10th of July.  As soon as they arrive we will get them up on the site in our Chronos Clock category.

Thank you for your patience.

...and here is a post from Chronos Dealer.com from earlier this year:

Very good news: We've caught up with backlogs and parts back-orders. Chronos clocks are repaired and sent back quickly these days.

Encourage your friends to send their nonworking clocks very soon, as it is difficult to predict how long this wonderful situation will continue!

.... I am sure just as soon as they sell out their last remaining 9 clocks, Wholesale Chess will enter into another drought. Hopefully it will won't last as long as the last one. Best advice is IF you want a Chronos, and you don't succeed in snagging one of these last remaining 9 clocks, then get on over to their website and  YES, get you name on their waiting list to be notified just as soon as thier NEXT batch of clocks come in... whenever that will be.

Hope this helps.

I want to say I don't believe it but this is I think the third time since I bought my "backup clock" that WC has gotten in clocks and within days was sold out, though I think this had to be the largest shipment they must have gotten in totaling at least 60 in number, and they are out of them in 4 days time. Mind blowing!!!

Something odd is going on. They initially had 3 colors (black, biege, and blue) in both button and touch. Over the next 4 days, some of these dissappeared, until finally it was down to beige in both touch and button. Then it was down to biege in just touch.

Then there were none.

And now, there are some! They are at this moment listing 2 colors (black and blue) in both touch and button.
