Chronos clock issue

Finally found one in stock and have been enjoying it so far. However, I noticed a flicker in the LCD panels when viewed from certain angles in bright conditions (Nice day with the blinds open). Has anybody else noticed this?

First, congrats! Smile Chronos clocks have been awfully limited in supply lately...

A friend of mine noticed the same thing with his Chronos. I'm not sure why this happens, though. He's had it for ~2 months and hasn't had any issues concerning the LCD panels. Unfortunately, I can't really offer much more than that. But all in all, I don't think it's too big of a deal. I hope this helps!

Not sure why anyone thinks a Chronos is scarce unless you live outside of North America (wholesalechess.com)...even then ChronosDealer.com will ship one around the world.

Many online websites that use to sell Chronos clocks now say: "Backorder", "Out of Stock", etc. Even USCF and House of Staunton don't have Chronos clocks currently available. ChronosDealer.com is one of the few websites I've seen that have Chronos clocks readily available (as well as wholesalechess.com, as you mentioned). Supposeably the reason why is because the manufacturer is not keeping up with demand (is it true that there really is only one guy making these clocks?).

Thanks for the help RaleighRaine. And you're right CC, they aren't so difficult to come by, but wholesale has harsh shipping costs to Canada.

You're welcome.

I ordered a few items from one of the "backorder" listed suppliers and told them to hold the order until it was complete.  It took about 4 weeks for the Chronos clock to ship, but it did ship.  If you want one and can wait on the backorder, they are available.

Thank you for the info! I've been trying to get a Chronos clock for a month or so now (want to replace my cheap clock) and wouldn't mind the wait. Smile

Here's a report on the state of the Chronos union:
