I would think there are many such sets in France?

Not so much (in high quality), and mostly hard to find.

Very NICE!! The Ref. 212 in ebony finish. Mine is the antiqued brown version. I like they not overly weighty for such a large set.

Yeah, it is actually dark brown in colour but my camera isn't the best and makes it look black. My 2.25" board is in storage while moving house but I think/hope it will suit this set. I noticed your version of this set has knights that resemble those from the b210 set. I guess Chavet had many "transition" type sets, just like Jaques! I had thought that this was possibly the set used in the 2000 WC Kasparov Kramnik match but actually the set used in the match was a 3 1/2" (size 5) set identical to the one below. It can be seen better on Getty images site but I don't think I can post their pictures here. Also noticed when going through getty images that the Karpov Korchnoi match in Merano 1981 used a 3 3/4" Lardy which was news to me.

Okay I was looking at it on my phone first lol. Now I see it is dark brown. Yes My knights pretty much resemble the ones from the ref. 210 set but slightly larger. Everything else about the ref. 212 set is MUCH larger . Even the box lol ... nullnullnull

Very nice! Neither of my sets has the labels which were obviously pulled off, but the boxes are the same shape as those. Is this a 2.25" board? The set seems to fit it nicely so maybe my 2.25" is going to be ok. I think my Chavet collection is now complete. The next step is that fabulous NOJ Tal set which I think will also fit on 2.25" squares?

Funny when looking at the pictures of the 2000 WC set it is very obvious that one of the black rooks is warped like a drunken sailor. If I had been playing with that set I would have objected! Maybe that's why I never reached that level, too concerned with the equipment 😊

Yes it's the Drueke 2.25" re-issue board. I have a some pieces with the infamous "Lardy Lean" myself. Rather amusing until it afflicts a 4" King or Queen. Then it's just sad meh.png

I've been very lucky on the "lean" front. My Lardy has no leans at all and any slight warp in one or two of the Chavet pieces is unnoticeable unless you crouch down at eye level and turn the piece. Can I pm you about a development on the repro front?
