Custom chess boards

Hey All,

We just got a new machine in that allows full custom color chess boards to be made in house.  I need to pick the brain of the wonderful chess community here on chess.com to get some feedback on the idea.

Every chess club needs boards,  right?  What do you think a good starting number would be for less than 20 boards.  I want to make it affordable,  but still leave some money to keep the lights on.

Would love to see what you guys thought a good price would be for something like 12 full custom chess boards.  People like you are my bread and butter and I feel it is always helpful to get feedback from the people who actually use the product.

Thanks for all the help,

Shelby Lohrman

Shelby are you talking the traditional vinyl board or the ultra thin Butterman board made of rubber but finished nicely so you can clean spills and fold it for a year without any issues?

TundraMike

Wow and all in house. Can't get any better than that, all made in USA to boot.  And we know if you make them they will be quality.  Thanks.

I'm not wild about logos on the squares in the playing area....

I think they look pretty good.  I can definitely see them being used for clubs or tournaments.

Shouldn't the grain run in the same direction on those prints? I myself would find that very off putting.

Has a valid point, since it is printed on the sides,

Hey guys,  I do what the customers want. You know the rules.  Of course I would prefer the boards with no logos in the playing area...but you have to ask the question...how else do you promote yourself on the board?  right?

thanks

Shelby

Print the promotion, company name, web address etc., on the edge, outside of the playing area - preferably in a smaller, unobtrusive font.

Ask your customer if s/he would like for you to sell more, or fewer, of these boards.....logos inside the playing area will sell less - as you more than anyone, must know.

I think they look fine. HoS sells wooden boards with their logo in the h1 square and nobody seems to mind. Just depends on your taste. I think they're great for clubs and schools and anyone wanting to get people involved in the game.

Is this the high quality vinyl or the regular kind?

I kind of figured the logo in the square is just a part of branding.  It's kind of a necessary evil because, from the organizer's perspective, why wouldn't they want the logo to show somewhat prominently on the board they're supplying?

Hello Shelby,

these mousepad chessboards look great!

Are they available in smaller size - like square size between 1.70" and 2.00" ?

If not, are you aware of any other available smaller mousepad boards than 2.25" ?

thank you!
