You answered youe own question. You don't want a warranty so it should be obvious which board to gwt.

I meant possible updates of the chess engine over time. I read that Centaur offered since 2020 is different (previous version had visible circles). Visual aspect is less important.

Quick question - since I can buy DGT Centaur dated 2019 - is it still worth it?
I can buy a brand new paying twice as much, however money is not a big issue. As I want to hack it to be able to export PGN files via USB I prefer a unit without warranty.
