DGT Revelation II

Sort:
ifekali

This is the DGT Revelation II Phoenix Chess Systems chessbot. It's not even released yet.

Just received the package from a cousin in the DGT warehouse, testing the first production unit from the first production run, serial number 010006 (first five were testing units).

The pieces are of course our own DGT enabled BCE pieces, serial number S1EDGT0028.

The machine supports Rybka, HIARCS, Shredder and some other engines. Should be tough.

First impressions: Hefty but nice. Turns on.

Stay tuned.

the pawns looked like nipples. Are there any other designs?

are you looking to buy one?

Thanks - it looks great! Konhidras - it comes with several piece options - see the DGT/Phoenix Chess System sites.

Hello Jonas:

I've gotten a DGT USB e-board and I'm still interested in getting a BCE piece set for the board.   Specifically, the Stage II Western style complete with blessing.  Do  you have any information about the compatibility of the BCE steel ring option with the DGT piece circuitry?

Do the Stage I BCE/DGT pieces have weights?  The DGT pieces for the e-board are somewhat light and don't seem to have any weighting.

Also, your video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C0zw3YTk-Q is one of my favorites.  Maybe you could make another version with a complete game.  Or a video with Stage II Western pieces if you have a DGT version of them.

We can deliver Stage 2 DGT pieces in a month or so. At this time we only keep S1EBDGT's on stock.

Stainless bottoms are no go, too much interference.

DGT compatible pieces are never weighted. I heard about the Camaratta's Sinquefield set, but I'll believe it when I see (and weigh) it.

Very nice! Isn't Camaratta retired? Or does he still have a say? When Camarata was in charge of HOS I never ever got bad chess pieces!

I would hope it comes with other piece options.  Those pieces look ridiculous.

Just curious, what would be the price of this chess set?

waffllemaster

Awsome.

Would be fun if it weren't for a $1200.00 price tag (or whatever it will be Wink)

Not my cup of tea. It looks like something from the 80's

Nothing quite like people hurling insults over chess piece designs :D

I also don't like several designs that I can think of, but I prefer the term "not my cup of tea", especially when somebody obviously put a lot of work into the pieces.

When someone calls their set "best chessmen ever" they are fair game, in my opinion.  If they were called "Sleek Design" pieces or something, I would have less of a problem.  That name just asks for criticism iyam.

Almost two years since this thread started...

Any more relevant news around this computer?

Anyone played on it, or owing it?

How has the sales been for it?

Etc, etc

Not exactly an answer to your question, but this has been my experience, for what it's worth.

I wanted the Revelation II so badly, but the price is eye watering. Even so, I started saving up for one. To keep me occupied, I bought a second-hand DGT USB eBoard and DGT Pi for a very attractive price. I enjoyed that so much it made me lust after the Revelation even more.

However, the more I used the eBoard and Pi, the more it grew on me. I'm now at the point where I just cannot countenance spending ten times more than I paid for the used eBoard/Pi combo on a new Revelation II.

It (the R.II) even has some downsides compared to my setup. For example, I can sit in the garden on a nice day and run off a small mobile phone battery charger. I'd be tied to a wall socket with the Revelation.

So I'm actually quite happy without one at the moment, and I've saved a shed load of money that I can waste on some other toy.

Beautiful but too damn expensive.

How about the Pewatronic Grandmaster 50? Half the price of a Revelation II.
