DGT Smart Board owners.

Hi, I've had my Smartboard for about a year now. When it arrived, I was surprised at how much paler it was than the ones I'd seen in online videos. Mine looks like it's faded(it hasn't, it's been like that from new). I have a DGT non electronic walnut board, which looks lovely but the smart board is quite a bit paler than that. I only mention the non e board for comparison, I know that they are different materials and so it is unlikely they will look the same. Insipid looking is how I'd describe the smart board.

Thanks

So here we go Smart board on the left (plastic) DGT non electronic (wood, feels like plastic ;o)) on the right.

Thanks

Here is a pic of the smart board by itself.

I suppose, by itself it looks reasonably saturated in a picture. I wonder if that is why they look better in a pic or video?

My Smartboard is the same. The first one I had looked fine with proper colours but it had a problem recognising pieces, so I sent it back. The replacement worked properly but looks like it was left in the sun for a year or two. Having already returned one I couldn't be bothered returning the second, but it is disappointing.

Cannot comment on the board since I don’t own one but I do have their plastic pieces and I really like the quality of plastic. Much better and much more durable than the mainstream cheap plastic pieces that are used at most tournaments in the United States.

I like the plastic pieces too. I have 2 sets of the non electronic plastic pieces, they were cheap on Amazon ;0). DGT’s wooden pieces don’t look that nice to me.

HD, hello. How the funk are ya?

Lots of people admire the wallpaper. It was here when I moved in 9 years ago. Too lazy to change it. ;o)

Away from home and suffering board separation anxiety.

That's giving away the secret, but anyway, who said laziness was a bad trait?

i just bought one and it arrived like white washed drift wood. almost grey. the lack of contrast from squares combined with the pieces on the board was very distracting. you could get used to it but it every time opened the box i balked. it looks much worse in person than in pics. like the whole things is grey, like on purpose... not bleached or washed out but just pale. this woul dmake sense if it were wood. wood varies... but this is plastic....i would assume it wouldnt vary as much from lot to lot.

Mine looks washed out and faded too, not as bad as yours by the sounds of it. I put a vinyl board on top of mine. Works great. I've heard others complain about the same thing.
