Never knew this Lardy dogface knight set. the budget line for the mainstream, was used by some renowned names like Alexander Alekhine vs Efim Bogolyubov during 1929 World Chess Tournament. This tournament was played over several locations, this one was in Cafe Koening in Berlin. Emanuel Lasker was guarding the clock. The two guys in the back holding the board were working overtime.

Compliment to the fellow who did the coloring of the black and white picture and this picture came from here link for credit

I knew there was something special about this dogface knight set, this makes daddy proud.

This post makes me happy. Thanks Michael. I love the fact that I stumbled across two Lardy’s at different times over the past year - the standard and the ‘budget’ dogface. (Well three actually …. I have a small Dogface too ….a miniature schnauzer, in a small box.  😊) Here’s all three.
