Does anyone own the Noj 1941 Soviet chess set?

Hey, I am wondering if anyone has purchased this set and currently owns it.

I would love to see high res pictures of it. I have only been able to find noj.si's page on it, and one thread on here about it. I would also like to hear your thoughts on it, whether you own it or not.

Here it is: https://www.noj.si/?ID=155&action=productDetails&mod=catalog

My turn is coming up soon at Noj, and I am leaning toward this set instead of the usual Dubrovnik chess set.

I love that option. I went w the 1950 set, but thought long and hard about others. And this set was one I really had my eye on.

The pics on that thread are amazing. I want that set badly!

I actually have this exact set coming in soon, in maple and walnut. I will post pictures when I receive it. I fell in love with the knights and the general design of it.

@jdsto The knights ARE really nice, aren't they. Stood out for me too. A very pretty set.

Btw,for anyone interested,Chessbazaar happens to make a very nice 1940's Reproduced Soviet Club Set.....I have that one in my collection, but am excommunicating it for a while, before displaying it again!

Okay okay let's settle this for once and for all. Mr Mch818 buys Tal set and Mr Magicwanger buy Noj 1950. Everybody wins!

It's not on my A list buddy😊

I own an original very close in design.

You can read a bit more about it in the Gallery to my website under 1940 Barrel Rook Chessmen.

To be perfectly honest, after 19 tourney sets,3 travel sets,3 nice boards and 13 books, including a nice piece of chess related art, all in  a dedicated chess/hobby room, there's nothing on my A,or B list these days.....You can blame it on the wife.

Whew! Talk about a run on sentence.-happy.png

I have a Tal set from NOJ and recently purchased a Tal set from ERWood on Etsy.  Sadly, they are in Karkhiv, Ukraine and I hope they will return.

A side-by-side comparison and review would be awesome if you have the time. Not that one is better of worse than the other, but just to see the differences in carving style by each artisan.

@pawnerai sadly, war broke out just at the time the set was to be shipped sad.png

Two different approaches to a fantastic set.I'm lucky to own both, but ultra sad to see the flat out sick evil going on.

Oldset, also a great Ukranian vendor(I have his stunning Alekhine set) is likely gone forever!

No words to say that won't get me banned.
