My dream board would look a lot like this one:

But then I found this one for a good price on ebay and had to buy it.

I have a ton of board pics saved but here is one I like as a great looking piece of furniture (not so much as an ideal, practical board, though using it wouldn't cause issues):
Amboyna/Bird's Eye Maple/Ebony

This is very nice. What size is it?

My chess table

My acryl board

my wood board

I can engrave what ever on all boards, but I like it best cleen.

I think it was a 2-1/2" board...an old HOS offering. They've had a huge selection over the years. I'll add more here--in particular a Brazilian rosewood/maple one that I really liked.

Did you mean to write 2-1/2' or feet instead of 2-1/2" or inches.
Brazilian Rosewood/Quilted Maple 2.5" (Brazilian Rosewood is rare and expensive). I love the way it works in this board. Rich and dimensional. I like this board for its field of 64 squares--the framing not so much. I kind of prefer the simpler English Traditional framing of the ebony board I posted above.

Purpleheart is also good for me. Purpleheart/Bird's Eye Maple 2.5":

Not least is a nice leather board in green and natural 2.5". I'd switch up the border but the color and contrasts of the playing field is wonderful (I have a two piece 1.5" analysis board in this green and natural from the same maker).

The dimensions refer to square size, which is typical.

Okay. I have never purchased only a board. Of course, I have never seen boards like these, since I have never considered purchasing just a board.
One of the members from my home state makes some really nice tables. I think he may have some pictures posted on his profile; here is a video:

I'll take some pictures and post them later today.
