Elevated Frame "Jaques Style" Boards?

Sort:

Where can I find these elevated frame style boards, they seem hard to fine? HOS has a Traditional board for ~$200. Other than that there are some Etsy customs. Are these pretty much the only options out there besides waiting to see what pops up on eBay?

For reference, this post from 2017 has some awesome looking boards in thes style: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/jaques-style-chess-board

They look really great. Both the antiqued and non antiqued version.

There is so much work being done by chessmen manufacturers to answer the huge demand of old set reproductions, can anyone tell me why it’s not the case with boards ? Aren’t there any iconic chess boards ?

The OS boards look nice

I would call it a raised border or raised edge type board, but whatever.  I am interested in this type board as well.  I was thinking of asking Brad at colorado wood worker is he would make a board like that.  It isnt part of his normal menu, but seems easy enough to do. Since every board he makes us custom, I don't see why he wouldn't

Was going to buy one at the sale price, for my brithday sad.png , But that offer is no longer there .

Prices have gone back up , Was the best deal for this kind of board . Had liked the non-antiqued ones ,

Drueke is the most iconic chessboard. This is the one board that comes to mind that is reproduced from several sources. I had a local wood worker reproduce one for me. However I used Ash for light squares instead of Maple or Aspen. Ash is a really good complementary wood choice for Walnut.

The reproduced copy I have. Sorry about the picture quality.

The topic is about elevated frame boards.  While the Drueke boards are solid wood and iconic, they certainly do not have the elevated frame the OP is talking about.

Wow Eyechess didn't know that you were an admin.. Look dude if you are not an admin. Shut up and mind your own business. I was merely answering a question asked by NecronomIV.

Eyechess

Wow, you are truly a fool when it comes to Chess stuff.  Kindly mind your own business and only post in topics about cheap and low priced stuff.

Eyechess

Oh yes’m schmuck that is KnightsForkCafe, truly iconic boards he is asking about are ones from history that Frank Camaratta brought back and had made as elevated frame boards.

KnightsForkCafe

Here again you acting like an admin. when you are not employed by chess.com to do so. I don't claim to be an expert on chess equipment. You are a chess set forum troll who much rather argue about chess stuff at the end of the day in pointless. Just enjoy the game and different sets.

Eyechess

Once again, I am not arguing, you are.

And you definitely are no kind of expert on any Chess stuff.  You have proved this by your numerous fallacious postings here.

I am not arguing, but I will no longer stand for the wrong things you post.

So you are the Lord & Savior of chess equipment. Heaven forbid wrong information about chess equipment might be posted. What is humanity going to do with all of this misinformation? You are nothing but an arrogant JA that wants people to spend tons of money on equipment that changes nothing about the game. Maybe in the world of chess set collecting but to play the game it's irrelevant.

Eyechess

Thank you for your insults and wrong statements.
