For all those hard to shop for Chavet chess set collectors out there.

@Fer8799 He certainly priced them at a level where you'd expect a weighted/felted size 6. I can understand your disappointment. I'm still looking for a size 6 myself - they're so hard to find!

I think that vintage size 6 should always be felted/weighted. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though happy.png

I feel for you. I hate it when sellers neglect to mention something or mentions something incorrectly. These sellers know the market is for collectors and minor details to most such as a few mm does matter to buyers of these vintage sets. Still people make mistakes. It is understandable. I am not sure he made a mistake here or not. I looked at your link and checked out the sellers history. It looks like the set you bought was sold on May 3. I am guessing that was you. It does not seem like he has any other listings for it now or even since then. Anyhow, you can get your money back if you file a claim with eBay/Paypal and/or your credit card company. The credit card company especially can just reverse the transaction in full. I hope you get it worked out.

Hi @MCH818, it was the second (or third?) time he sold it. I bought him outside ebay, big mistake..., I trusted him.

I just want to make it clear to all potential buyers that this guy does not assume his mistakes (if it can be considered a mistake and not an attempt to deceive by putting a height of 9.3 instead of 9. Honestly, who has had a chavet 5 and 6 in his hands, I think it is difficult to make such a mistake, especially if he considers himself a collector, and this "gentleman" has a book about collecting pieces, hilarious...).
If anyone is going to buy from him, my recommendation would be to only buy from him on ebay and keep the exact description of the product in order to be able to claim if necessary.

If this is the 2nd or 3rd time then it is not a mistake. I feel for you. I would be furious too. Thanks for letting the community know about him. I will definitely not buy from him outside eBay and Etsy and will think twice before purchasing from him.

@Fer8799 Sellers going outside of Ebay to bypass Ebay's cost (and your buyer protection potentially) is a huge red flag to start with. Basically they are willing to break their contract with Ebay to save a few bucks while still using the platform to gain exposure.
