Fritz 13: Help with manually entering and saving games

Hello allSmile

This is my first post, but I've been lurking on these forums for a couple of months and getting helpful tips.  Thank you!

I've a question about Fritz 13 (actually I have dozens of them, but I'll keep those for later), and though I searched through the forums, I can't seem to find an answer.  I've read the Fritz 13 manual, and watched Steve's excellent video tutorials.  I now understand most of the program features, though I am still having problems with some of the most basic of actions.

This is my question: Currently, I'm reading Neil McDonald's "The Ruy Lopez move by move."  As I read the games in the book, I would like to manually enter the moves (both Black and White) in Fritz.  I would also like to enter my own notes (plain text) for each move, so that they appear when I replay/review the game later.  The idea is to save all the games from the book in one database (I know how to save games in a database), so when I re-read the book later, I'll have all the games, and my thoughts in one place.

Is there an option, for example, where I can select "Play both sides?"  The intuitive way to go about this, it seems to me, would be to click the New Game button.  However, as soon as I make the first book move, the engine responds with its own!

This seems like such a simple thing to do, and yet I can't figure it out.  All help is highly appreciated!

In order to play both sides you need to switch off the engine.  This can be found under the engine tab.  Check the box for switch off engine.  Do this and you will be able to play both sides.

Brilliant!  Thank you guys, both your suggestions work perfectly.
