Hello,

Does anyone here experiences occasional Runtime Error 1130,49 with latest Fritz 19 (screenshot attached)? This happens relatively often to me (but also I haven't used Fritz for a long time and just installed it again on a new laptop) . In case this is a factor, I don't use the default opening book from Fritz -  I've been using Powerbook 2022, but also often play Najdorf as black against an on-the-fly book created from 3700 strongest Najdorf games from Powerbook 2022 (I use "play black against selected games" function in Fritz - available after selecting Databse from startup screen).

I'm in touch with Chessbase support about this issue but so far they have no clue what the problem is, and apparently no one reported this. Reaching out here in case anyone else seen this error...

Thanks

Hi @Stolowski,

I’ve encountered similar issues with Runtime Error 1130,49 in Fritz 19, so you’re not alone! Based on my experience and some troubleshooting, here are a few steps that might help:

  1. Update Fritz 19 and Powerbook 2022: Ensure both are fully updated. ChessBase often releases patches to fix bugs.

  2. Reinstall the Software: If you’ve recently installed Fritz 19 on a new laptop, a corrupted installation might be causing the error. Uninstall the program completely, including any leftover files in the installation directory, and reinstall it.

  3. Check Windows Visual C++ Libraries: Runtime errors often relate to missing or corrupted Visual C++ Redistributable files. Download the latest version from Microsoft’s website and install it.

  4. Test a Default Configuration: Since you mentioned using an on-the-fly Najdorf book, try switching back to the default opening book temporarily to see if the error persists. If it works fine, the issue might be with how the custom book interacts with Fritz 19.

  5. Run as Administrator: Right-click on the Fritz 19 shortcut and select “Run as Administrator.” This can sometimes resolve unexpected runtime issues.

  6. Compatibility Mode: If all else fails, try running Fritz 19 in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows (right-click the shortcut > Properties > Compatibility tab).

It’s frustrating that ChessBase hasn’t been able to pinpoint the issue yet, but these steps might help narrow it down. Let me know if you manage to resolve it!

Best regards,
