Getting Chessmaster 9000 to Work in Windows 10

Help! I lost the chessmaster 9000 cog download link!! Where is it again please?

Little off topic, but also a chessmaster fan. The metal set that you have to unlock, is based on a real chrome steel and solid brass gold set I own. I don't know if any other sets in the game have real life counterparts. Little trivia, I thought was cool.

Tx. I never did unlock all the sets. I wipe my hard drive often and always got my progress wiped as well! The sets ARE cool!

I know you can unlock sets in CM10 and probably CM11, but I couldn't find any info about unlocking sets in CM9000. Anyway, that is a nice looking set.

Not the kind of set I would use in real life tho. I favor a more Marshall /Staunton wood for tourney and Durable plastic for blitz. Furhter. I like a 4 inch king with almost 3 inch squares. Since I moved to Indy I have my own bedroom and it is like totally chess themed. I got this hanging in my room By Salvador Dali. I may get this one too- He has done a number of things with chess.

Now that this issue's been put to bed, I reinstalled my Build 1909 HD in my Win10 test rig, and I won't go to the latest build until Satya Nadella waves his magic wand, haha...

U b fortunate to have good discs and another computer for resources,=. I may in the future dig up an old pc with 98 or whatever on it (perhaps when the wife goes to Europe again) although the download CM9000 works great I am uncomfortable with all the permissions it requires. Altho I have nothing worth stealing on my computer. Come to think about it, Steam does the same thing right?

I don't know anything about Steam - I've never used it.

I'm fortunate to have a lot of PCs, but only two were bought retail, and they're old now. The rest were garage sale specials. So I have quantity, but not quality.

Like I said before, even a disk install is going to have the same security permissions as the digital download. The only downside to the GOG download is that you have to trust GOG not to do anything underhanded, which I doubt would happen, but who knows for sure?

Precisely. I do not trust Microsoft. I do trust Steam as I had no issues over the years - SO FAR. I do not know about Microsft being criminal per se however the law has not caught up to what is moral.

@Nimzowitts - If you knew your way around ImgBurn and 7-Zip, I could send you my Setup.exe file, and you could build your own set of good disks. It's not that hard: 1) Just use 7-Zip to extract the files from the Disc 1 ISO. (Or if you're starting with the actual disc, I think just use ImgBurn to copy the files off of the disc.) 2) Swap out the Setup.exe files. 3) Use ImgBurn to create a new ISO from the modified files then burn the ISO to a CD. That's it!

Hello Has anybody tried running cm 9000 on a virtual box??

I have not, However In terms of windows 10  I do not think that a box is the issue. GOG games has a set up file to work with win 10. See previous discussion.

I haven't either, and I feel bad that I've never played around with VMs - I think it could be fun. My hardware is a bit old, so I'm not sure I have enough oomph to run a VM properly. However, if it was just to set up a Win XP or Win 95 VM, I might be able to swing it. Maybe one of these days, but so far, no...

I wonder...... would a vm box be useable?

Another old game I liked was Starsiege, I think I will mess a vm box with that game when I find the time.
