GoChess Smartboard

Hey,

I am relatively new to playing chess and I was looking into a Smartboard when I came across this GoChess Smartboard which is currently on Kickstarter. Seems like it has some sort of ai and self moving pieces and led indicators to help you learn/get better at chess.

Do you guys think that this is a "good" investment? I am like really new to chess and only looked at the chessnut air so far but I'm kind of missing "smart" features that help me to learn like openings etc. Without the need to having to use my phone all the time.

I'm not going to post a link here, cause I don't really know if it is allowed or not.

I really would love your feedback!

can you send a link

I guess it's okay cuz you need to learn a lot and the board will help u visualise perfectly (great moves and all)

Looks good! I have pledged for the 4X classic board.

I'm guessing this board isn't any "smarter" than any of the other e-boards currently available. I suspect you will probably have to look at your phone/tablet as much with this board as anything else available. I could of course be wrong about that, but what you're really paying for is the self moving capability. You'll have to decide how important that is to you. You can get a board from ChessnutAir, DGT, or Millennium for the price options of GoChess. You can get a board from one of the existing companies right now and start playing without taking a chance on a product that may never come to market.

It looks fishy. It might be a scam just like the Regium board. We'll have to wait and see. Just don't spend your money.

Hi people,
I have a concern. If GoChess lights up the square with the most favorable move, wouldn't that be playing to an advantage?
How would chess.com handle to avoid this?

Thanks

Smooth and simultaneous piece movement is a compelling feature that would place this in a whole new category with significantly greater appeal.

Advantageous moves would be disabled from online play of course.

We are understandably skeptical. They seem to have a track record and public profile though, unlike Regium. Scamming would be entirely counterproductive.

I already assumed that if it was played directly online. This does not, however, prevent someone from using GoChess off-line by playing and analyzing the same match in parallel.
I guess we have to trust the honesty of the players.

Did you people not learn anything from previous electronic boards kickstarters (Regium). The majority of them are just scams. I wouldn't touch this with a ten-foot pole

Be cautious for sure but the GoCube (Rubik's Cube) from the same development team is actually pretty awesome.

There's no way I'm touching this without a reputable chess personality getting a live demonstration. The fact that their "review" doesn't include piece movement is more than suspicious.
