I can recommend Dgt 2010. A good clock for casual chess players ...

For instance Saitek had 2 digital models that were as good or better than the DGT clocks in their time.

Also the Excalibur clocks were provably better than the DGT clocks that were their contemporaries.

Ok, now you've lost all credibillity. You're just trolling now. Saitek and Excalibur can't touch DGT. You do realize that DGT have been making chess clocks for over 35 years right?

And your Chronos is about as advanced as a DGT chess clock from the 80's. They failed to innovate and that's why they went out of bussiness. And I'm talking about real useful innovation, not gimmicky touch sensors that do absolutely nothing to improve chess competitions. They were basically still making the same clock as DGT did in the 80's.

Chronos chess clock breaks down quickly and after a while of using it starts making this ding dang sound which is very distractive and annoying. Professional chess players in professional tournaments use only DGT chess clocks and no other chess clock is not even allowed. I have worked on every type of chess clock and only DGT is good enough. That is also the reason why Fide who knows best uses only DGT.

The metal buttons on chronos become rusty from inside after a while. It is not meant for professional chess, the reason why it is never used in any proper tournaments. It is also long and does not provide a good vision, some people have compared chronos clock to buses from 1960s.

Wow, this is totally false!

The buttons never ever rust.  I have one Chronos since 2002, yes over 16 years old.  This is the clock I use for blitz and skittles in places we were eating and a lot more.  It still runs perfectly.

This garbage about rust is totally made up and false.

The V-Tek is an updated clock to the Chronos using the same materials as the Chronos.

The display has an extra line but is the same type of display.

The indicator lights now have multiple colors but are still LED as the Chronos.

the body is the same, anodized aluminum with a different shape.

The buttons are identical, an IBM type cherry key.

We like to play games that don't exceed 45 minutes and we like to play patzer-bullet...

Yep, the Chronos GX button model will do the best for this.  And get it on sale for Black Friday or Cyber Monday.  The House of Staunton has the $110 at 20% off giving an $88 price and Wholesale Chess has its $105 at 15% off giving an $89 price until Sunday.  Good luck.

I would recommend simply downloading a free chess clock on to a phone or tablet. It's free and effective.

Chronos chess clock battery issue, rusty metal buttons and awkward shape do not justify the extortionate price of $100 at all.

There is no battery issue.

The buttons are not metal and never rust.

There is no evidence the shape is awkward at all.

You are fabricating all of this completely.

Please stop trolling.

Anyways, while a DGT 1001 Fide approved chess clock cost only $30, it is madness to spend $100 on an average Chronos clock.

You cannot get away with ignoring the fact that you have made a number of completely false, negative and harmful statements about this clock.

There is no "Anyways..." in this discussion.

You cannot nor should not assume any clock is simply average compared to other clocks.

It keeps casual games from going on forever : )

If you are just going to buy the one clock and use it as you say, then I would buy a Chronos GX.  And I would buy it right away at the major sales prices you see on either The House of Staunton or Wholesale Chess.

For instance, The House of Staunton has 20% off which brings the Chronos GX to a price of $88.

That's a very good price on the Chronos GX clock.

I agree that the Chronos GX would fit your needs very well.  It is simple to use and durable.  Buy it and you don't have to think about chess clocks anymore.

To tell the truth, the company of the clock doesn't matter that much. I know Chronos, DGT NA, and a few others are pretty good for play.

I like the DGT NA a lot because it's smooth when you hit it. Chronos not so much because it's based off a touch sensor, which may make you worry about whether or not you hit the clock correctly. Either way, there are many good chess clocks and choosing a decent one shouldn't be hard especially if you aren't engaged in competitive play. It really depends on what you want.

I’ve only used a chronos once and I loved the it, the buttons felt very nice to push and with the metal case it should be perfect for rugged use. I have a DGT and it also great but I will say I really liked the feel of the Chronos

@chessopera stop spreading false information. This is disgusting of you. I have played in hundreds of chess tournaments both FIDE and USCF rated and I've only used a Chronos chess clock in all of them. I just played last week at the Marshall chess club in New York in a FIDE rated event and I used my Chronos too. So pleae, stop this nonsense false information.
