You sir need to lay off the sauce. Here is the correct score of the game. And white holds a strong opening advantage.

Please refrain from commenting on the evaluation of the position while the game is in progress. Thank you.

No! I will give a opinion on what has been played. Thank you very much.

As we are playing in a public forum I can´t see how we can forbid the spectators to comment.

My dog thought this was a two tilt move - first one way - then the next …😆😆

On a related note - I am taken by how this match of pieces and board is so clear - in real life that this (perhaps harder to tell in photos) this is one of the clearest/cleanest/easy to see board and pieces combo that I have in my collection, I reckon.

@Pamvo7 and all other proper chess players … I apologise in advance when I do something totally daft and give Herman and Unge even more of the said advantage!🤦‍♂️

DKW - look away now - with your skills you’ll feel ill watching plonkers like me … 😉😊

You guys are playing a chess game in the chess books and equipment forum. I am doing nothing inappropriate.

Hi all, apologies if playing a game in this forum is wrong. It’s my fault. I limit my time and attention to the CB&E forum only and thus, wanted to play here and the game is hopefully focussing on the pieces and therefore is hopefully relevant to this audience.

I agree. Plastic pieces like the set in your pics are "clearer" and less distracting than (more or less beautiful) wooden ones.

It wasn’t my intent to make a blanket statement - but I guess that’s exactly what I did 🤦‍♂️- in the context of my collection and the clarity of this combo… however, there are other factors like the tactile nature of wood … the feel, balance, and even the smell of some pieces - and just the ‘romance’ of playing with and displaying older wooden set that come into play for me too. So … I still have other combos I prefer to play - which are still very clear on the board but yes, I have surprised myself in how clear this combo looks! Good stuff.

Hm, the colour plus material contrast of your new combo is too strong for my tastes- too clear, if that makes sense. - I love this thread for the unsuspected wealth of plastic. Playing a 'brain' part (presenting sets piece by piece) allows me to keep it going for a while, otherwise I am all for wooden pieces and have only an occasional plastic one (for playing in the rain, or in old travel sets).

Powder, I would not accept you push me through 60 move endgames and don't consider yourself a proper chess player- but then it struck me of course it's true! I'm not a proper chess player myself, too happy.png

Has my brain taken a time out? Quite normal for me but I thought I should ask...

I play indoors when it´s raining. But whatever floats your boat.

When you are playing in a park on a table of stone and a rain sets in.. it's the most likely place to use plastic pieces for me. Time out, no, time off, rather. Will be back soon!

I’ve never seen that movie and in 5 minutes, they’re playing in the rain, there’s a classic plastic Lardy-like set and a Lewis knight gets a go … I had better watch it!

And while we await the white pawn move a few shots of some wonderful Bakelite pieces; one of my favourites in all my collection.

Seven pawns to chose from. Ten possible moves. I don´t get much help from my brain, but that´s how I´m used to play...

I think we´ll try to kick that pesky bishop! So 8. h3.

The pieces are HoS Collectors Series.

I think Herman’s hands are yet to move his pawn.
