I eventually bought a stackable borderless board from Colorado Woodworker. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1540489275/tower-series-maple-and-walnut-chess?click_key=a574a5d6c579fe9780f2cb668d98a0a2acc68f3a%3A1540489275&click_sum=2b6b044a&ref=shop_home_feat_1&frs=1&sts=1. What I like about this one is that the magnets are not in the same location on all pieces. This makes aligning the sections easier.
I also considered https://www.chesshouse.com/products/the-stack-chessboard-tournament-edition?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=64cec0a04&pr_rec_pid=10139720577&pr_ref_pid=9074066497&pr_seq=uniform
I've seen some interesting accessories for these style of boards. The leather carrier and a holder that stacks the sections for display on a shelf.
The only issue with sections is that you need a flat surface to play on. If it were a single piece you wouldn't need a totally flat and stable surface to play on.
Hi all,
I’m new to chess.com. Lots of knowledgeable people here!
i have read so many posts on chess boards, rereading them over and over. So much good info.
I need help now in deciding between two boards, mainly the finish. 12”x12”
JK Creative or Jim Andson wood
Is there anyone who owns a board from both people?
A couple of people on here said the JK Creative finish feels almost artificial. In a good way?
I’m also going to be getting the chess pieces from JK Creative so I can either get with the board or separately.
Hope to decide soon so I can order!!
Thank you!!
