Help identifying a chess set from the mid 1960s

This set of pieces was given to me as a gift in the early to mid 1960s. Any idea who the maker was? The dark pieces appear to be a light colored wood that has a mahogony colored stain. The king is about 3 3/4" tall.

Thanks. I didn't find any current sets of theirs that look like they match this vintage set though there is one set that has knights with similar carvings on the sides. Here's a close up of the knights for anyone else that may see this post.

Lardy.

I could dig out some old USCF catalog pics, but it's a Lardy design.

Thanks everyone. I did an image search on "Lardy" and found a vintage set that has knights that are almost identical. The other pieces look similar as well.

It is the Lardy set. It's my favorite! I got it in 1978 at the old Boston Chess studio on Newberry Street. mine has a white pawn missing & it has bothered me for about 5 years now. Frown

Thanks RetGuvvie!

I have a similar set from about that time, though I don't think it was made by Lardy - probably an imitation.

I recognized the knights immediately, the little notches on their heads.
