HOS Thin Mousepad Board

Not sure what set you plan on getting but I would suggest going to wholesalechess.com You can get the same equipment with cheaper shipping cost. I would do chesshouse.com for the thin mousepad board if you want color options that are other than the green, black, blue, or red. They are mostly the same board but I have noticed that the flex pad has a smoother surface than the ones from HoS & wholesalechess.com.

Their Hastings set would be the best one. However theirs is a bit higher in price than HoS or wholesalechess. I have a Marshall set in Red & Natural. I know that you would hate to place 2 different orders. It seems like you are wanting a Flex Pad. Since you like green. You might think about the Olive color Flex Pad. It is an easier green color for the eyes. Get the Marshall set from wholesalechess.com if you are looking to get that set. If not I would suggest getting the Hastings Black & Natural set from chesshouse if you want a Flex Pad board as well.

The Hastings set is a bit lighter than the Marshall set but it is a good quality set. You can't go wrong with either one in my opinion.

I have the Marshall in natural & black, I really like the fat rooks and smiling knights! The knights in the Marshal look happy to be playing chess, where as knights in other plastic sets and some wooden ones look angry, stupefied, or in the case of the Zagreb (communist era) sets depressed and downcast.
However, as i stated in another thread this morning, I think the Marshall plastic set plays best on a 60mm or 2.375" board. I believe HOS/USCF has a mouse pad board this size. I don't know if it is the thin variety or not. Chess houses flex pad boards are only available in the more common size of 57mm or 2.25". However, the Marshall does play on that size, I just think it is a little less crowded on the larger boards. That is only my opinion, and you know what folks say about opinions.
KnightsForkCafe is absolutely correct about the olive colored Flex Pad from CH, it is beautiful!

The Marshall fits the standard size, a lot of people use it. The Reykjavik and Hastings are popular, I have the Reykjavik, I like it, but the Marshall is a better set. I have played with the Hastings as it is owned by someone that I know. I like the Marshall better than both. I cant speak for other HOS plastic sets.
If you can wait until this, evening when I'm off work, I will take a picture of my Marshall set on both the 6cm board and the standard 5.7cm board. Then you can compare how it looks on each size. BTW the board square sizes are really metric. They just call them 2.25 inches and 2.375 inches for us Americans.
I do own a HoS thin mousepad board. It's alright.
However, I use The Chess House FlexPad boards exclusively as my roll up board. I like it batter than the HoS version. What I like better is the green color seems to about perfect on the FlexPad board.
I also bought one of The Chess House Flexpad boards in the olive that a number of people on here like. It's alright as well. I would use that olive color for the Sheesham or Golden Rosewood pieces. I con't like the color combination of the olive with the darker rosewood or black pieces. Now, that's my opinion. so if you like the olive color that's fine.

Ok I took some pics for you. First on a veneer board 5.7cm squares, then on the Olive Flex Pad from chess house also with 57mm squares, then the same shots with the 6cm square vinyl from The Chess Store.
The veneer in starting position.
the 5.7cm / 2.25" square veneer board from above so that you can see how the bases of the Royal couple fit the squares.
A random convoluded mid-game position, chosen from a book.
the same position on the Olive Flex Pad board.
The sizing code, a king should be approximately 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 squares tall. The rook and knight should be approximately or slightly shorter than the size of a square, the bases of four pawns should be about the size of a sqaure, and the if the king and queen are in the center of diagonally adjacent squares a bishop should be able to pass between them with out contacting either monarch.
As you can see the Marshall set maxes out or ever so slightly exceeds these guidelines on a standard 2.25" / 5.7cm board.
What follows are the same pics on a larger 6cm or 2.375" vinyl board from The Chess Store. In my opinion it just fits better on the bigger board. I leave the following pics without commentary.
As you can see I think the Marshall fits better on the 6cm or 2.375 inch boards, but it works on the standard 2.25 inch / 57mm boards too.
If you want the Marshall get the Marshall! The posted knights and rooms are awesome for a plastic set. I just posted the pics for your information.
