House of Staunton Chess Table....WOW!

Chess boards are nice if you have limited space, but there's nothing like a chess table for the ultimate in playing a game.

Here's the HOS  link to a great looking chess table offered at the amazing price of $395.   Also, if you're an HOS club member , you get an extra 10%.   I'd buy the table myself if I didn't already own 2 chess tables. Board squares at 2.375"

Looks really nice. I talked to HOS today on the web and although it is all veneer it still looks classy. Nothing wrong with veneer when it is done well as it looks like in this case. For $395 and possibly less if you are a member of their club it looks like one sweet deal. Wish I could see it in real time.

Agreed WiscMike, I'd love to see this table in the flesh. But from the HOS pictures this table looks gorgeous. I think this table with 2.375" squares would serve collectors well who have different size sets (4",4.4" and possibly 3.75" Kings).

The square size IS perfect.  This is where other chess tables fall short.  This one is also wide enough for captured pieces, a clock, and the traditional beverages.

Note the wide range of coloration of the dark squares....  just about any set would look fine on that board.  Clever.

Agree with everything you say. Very beautiful table exept for the coloration IMO.  It gives me the same weird feeling as when pieces have to much grain.  I personally don't enjoy it but it is a matter of taste i imagine.
