I made my first chess board!!

I'm 23 - after playing off and on for 15 years on my trusty roll up board, my friend and I finally made a chess board out of wood and I cannot believe how beautiful it turned out! I don't have anyone in person to share it with right now, so I thought I'd post a few photos here!!

For those interested:

Light squares - Maple

Dark squares - Black walnut

Border - Purpleheart ($$)

Edge pins - brass

Chamfer - simple pass with 45 degrees router 

Finish - 3 coats of tung oil and 3 coats of Howard citrus-shield paste wax
