I made some boards, and I'm looking for feedback

Good work. The top one would be the easiest to play on because of the higher contrast. I like the look of the second one the best.
For me, the bottom two are too intense and crowded. I kind of like the interesting swirly squares, but they need some space to breath--which is what the simple creamy white squares of the first board supply. And also the contrast makes the board more readable for playing.

@legendeye12 - I paint 2 inch by 2 inch tiles, then glue then onto a 16x16 wood panel. I need to cover these with a clear resin finish which will make three colors pop more and protect the paint, but I wanted to see what the feedback was first. I think I'm hearing the consensus is that white squares read as "negative space / chess board" more than the black - I made an effort to create diagonal motion on #2, I think that kind of thing but with white squares would be good in the future...

Not all of these are keepers nor complete, but here are a few more... I'm trying to get the right look down, although for custom made boards I guess I each board really only needs to find the one person whose fancy it tickles. I might start selling these and try become to chess boards what Olivander was to magic wands in Harry Potter...

What is the material for these boards. I think some of them would be too distracting for a chess player. Ok for display purposes

Honestly, these boards are too "busy" and distracting. I'd get a headache using one of these.
For a player, they need to be easy on the eye and low contrast. If their primary purpose is decoration, that's different of course.
How about getting rid of the swirls? That would definitely help. I mean instead plain translucent colours, a bit like looking at a piece of bluish ice, for example.
Anyway, good luck with your experiments. 👍

I don't mean to be mean, but constructive.
I find the patterns a bit too hard to look at. I would likely find it too distracting to play on. Is it possible you can show it with pieces on it?
To be clear... it's not about the colors because I like colorful vinyl boards. Those boards are solid colors though.
I'm wondering what people think, all feedback is welcome.
