I need help to identify this Staunton set
For a second, I thought you were selling this fine piece of your collection :-D
By the way, did you try sending those photos to Chatgpt/Gemini/Claude? AIs can do miracles sometimes.
this set is made from rare wood material thuganium, harvested from the shaker forest. wood scientist Mike oxlong values this set to be ~1500 USD.

Not familiar with Thuganium. Do you have more information? Curious.
The knights bear a great deal of resemblance to Dirk Dagobert knights. I know Dirk has recently retired from making sets, but maybe you could ask him if this was one of his early ones?

It's a rare wood only found in the shaker forest. It was discovered by tree scientist Brandon Barber while observing the dreamy bulls found in the forest.

Hi Bookie yes, Staunton and tournament size. But I still have to find out where and when it was produced and the market price for such a set. Thanks
It's ok thanks for your comment. I probably have to ask directly a chess collector who understand a lot the early Staunton sets.

You might try contacting Frank at chessantiques.com (see the "About Us" page). Sorry the forum wasn't more helpful - we sadly seem to have a sudden influx of kids and clowns and an absence of our old spirit.
Hi guys, I purchased this set many years ago and I had a hard time getting information about it. Can somebody help me? Kingside 10 cm, basis 4.5 cm, but only the King, the Queen has 4 cm and the other pieces 3.5 cm. Thanks.
