The Book 'Your Best Move' by Per Ostman is a simple one and process explained by him works in chess playing.

It helped me in getting to my present chess.com ratings but I also had a very extensive 'tactical training' on 'Chess Tempo'.

In the beginning it takes a lot of time. So, its better to play correspondence chess. Later on, one when has suffucient practise, the process could be speeded up.
