Hi

Can anybody help me identify my chess men. I bought them around the year 2000, as i Remember . Maybe Chavet. King is 90 mm high.

I really wish Chavet would get rid of that God awful Queen. They had the most elegant Queen design before sticking that lump on her head. I have written to them about this but have heard nothing back.

My guess is that Chavet pieces are almost entirely machine made now and the "lump" results in less work and manufacturing issues than the old flat top queen. I also emailed them about the dye used in the finishing process for the brown side but haven't heard back. To be fair they would probably be more interested if 10,000 people would pay an extra €50 to €100 a set than you and I (and a few more here) would pay €500 for a set, and you can't blame them for that.

Did I remember someone on this forum speaking to them by phone a while back?

It would be a nice change if the Basic Club plastic set were patterned after the Chavet instead of the Lardy. I am sure after awhile that would get bland and boring as well. happy.png

thx for the answers - and the queen is awful. Iam looking for an older Chavet, but not easy to locate .
