Identifying Chess Set

Hello Everybody!

My wife restored a chess set for my birthday recently and I was wondering if anyone could identify anything about it?

Here are some photos - we are lead to believe that it's Soviet from around the 1950s, but we're totally unsure.

It's 45cm in size.

Thanks to anyone who can provide some knowledge - looking forward to getting back into playing!

This looks quite nice.  The style definitely looks to be Soviet.  And it is believable that the era could be the 50’s or 60’s.

I am not well versed in these designs, but I expect some others would come here and tell us.

Good job.

Thanks so much!

Wow! That looks nice. Is the board original or was it something you had made?

Thanks!  Yeah I'm pretty stoked to have it.

It's all original, just refinished.  The board was originally finished with shellack and had bad water damage and it was carefully removed and refinished with nitrocellulose.

An even bigger WOW for it being an original. The restoration is super nice. Congrats!
