Hi

I came across this chess set in the attic of our new house and have struggled to find out anything about it. Wondered if anyone on here could help?

Its Bronte sisters themed with the pawns being stacks of Bronte books (e.g. wuthering heights) and figurines of Anne, Emily & Charlotte included in the other pieces. We think its made of crushed marble (Anne had an unfortunate accident and lost her head so we got a look at the stone inside). They’re pretty heavy.

Neither of us are any good at chess so we were thinking we would probably try and sell it but have no idea how much to ask for them. We’ve tried googling it but after much trawling we still cant find the same set any where so don’t really have any reference. Wondered if anyone had any idea? We don’t have the board unfortunately.

Thanks in advance,

Looks like a typical Studio Anne Carlton set.  They've had lots of limited run sets over the years, might even be in their current catalog; I didn't check.  The handpainted sets usually go for around $300, the plain like you have around $200.  No idea what a used one is worth (especially with a glued back on head).  Ebay has these occasionally.  You might want to do an "advanced" search in the chess section to include completed listings.  Hope that helps.
