Looks like direct heat damage from being left too long in the sunlight without being able to cool down. Not worth fixing unless you are into collectibles and don't mind spending a lot of money, because you would need to find a most likely a VERY end of life compatible LCD panel and the attachment it uses to connect to the board, which may not be available anymore. (For example, most repair shops are unable to even fix the non ZIF flexible printed circuit cable (FPC) on older chronos clocks and the older GX clocks (the newest GX clocks use a ZIF connector on the PCB (not sure what is used on the LCD side itself), which is much more durable vs oxidation degradation--only Samtimer (Sam) himself can fix the clocks, unless you are lucky enough to find a repair shop who services old style calculators and digital multimeters that have the same type of connector). It would just be cheaper to buy another used clock of that exact model.
