Why am I still below 1000 ELO?

So, apparently, it has been 10 months since I started playing this game, but still I didn't achieve the 1000 ELO milestone in rapid chess. I have played numerous puzzles, and even have had a 130 day streak of learning on this website, but... I don't know what happened. Anybody can tell me what could be used to improve. Cuz I have seen many people achieving it in just 5-7 months on average.

Firstly, everyone learns at different paces, so you must consider that. For more specific advice, could you tell me how most of your losses are lost.

Either I lose it up on time+material disadvantage, or I move literally one millisecond before realizing the move just hung something.

You might want to fact check that information, if the average person can get to `1000 in 5-7 months then why is the average rating 600? it took me 2 years to get to 1000 USCF and probably 1.5 months to get to 1000 rapid on chess.com

I am playing since 2022 and I went all the way up to 1100 last year und then crushing all the way down to about 780 rating points again. Right now I am stuck bouncing back and forth between 800- 900 rating points in Rapid. I am saying this so you know you are not alone. Keep in mind that the "median" which represents the average playing strength/ rating that most Rapid players play at on chess.com is in 2026 between 500 - 600 rating points. This means that with you 675 rating points in Rapid you are currently playing better than the average player here on this website. This is already a great achievement and should be celebrated instead of pitied!!

Two more important things to think about. First of all the ratings on this website do not in any form represent FIDE or USCF ratings and hence, can't be properly compared. (a little bit yes but not really). The second very important factor is(I am also massively impacted by this) , that this median has decreased massively over the last 2 years. It went down from about 1000- 1100 rating points to where it is now. This means that although you might have massively improved within these last 2 years but you could have in fact lost rating points instead of gaining it. Simply because there are now even more chess players playing on this website than there have been 2 years ago and many (probably most) are much stronger opponents playing on lower levels than even two years ago.

In case you have still managed to have a higher overall rating than you've had 2 years ago, it's a really great achievement. Be proud of yourself. You've dramatically improved your chess understanding. It's reflected by the fact that you are currently playing in the 65% percentile of all Rapid chess players on chess.com. Meaning you are "officially" better than about 65% of all the players here. Continue improving your game, read books and yes even tactic books. If needed/ preferred read them on chessable.com or use youtube. It doesn't really matter where you get the information from. What matters is that you have a plan on what to improve and that you stick to it. Don't start cheating because you are frustrated. This is what most of the idiot's and loser's do. Most of them have mentally already given up and will never reach mastery. You have a life time to improve you chess. If your goal is becoming a professional chess player, it's a different story. In this case you would need help (no matter what) simply because competition is too fierce. You would be up against the children of GM's and IM's and the children of very wealthy individuals who simply buy their kids successes in the way that they provide them with the absolute optimal training material / coaches and environments. Somebody who doesn't even know which book to read next in order to continue his improvement or not "willing" / able to read a chess book properly which is containing all these annotations simply isn't able to cope with it.

Analyze your own games on a real board, make notes about the errors you did and study the areas where you are weak. Repeat all the time openings, middlegame and endgame studies. Then you will go higher.
