Ivory Chess Set Questions

I was wondering if anyone had any info on this chess set? I can barely find anything about it. All I know is that it’s almost definitely ivory and it’s likely a 20th century (1940s) hand-carved Chinese set. I’ve seen a bunch of them with a similar board and the same satin lining but I think they’re all designed slightly uniquely. My grandfather got this set from one of his chess friends after he passed away and he’s had it for years so I have no real background info on it.

I attached some pictures of it and also the papers that were in the case. It’s a pretty cool set and I just wanted to know more about it and remotely what it even costs. A couple of the pieces have small parts broken off and the bottom of the white king was burned probably as an authenticity test but it’s nearly all intact. Every piece has slightly different Schreger lines so I’m not sure what type of ivory it is but if you have any guesses please let me know. I’m thinking about taking it to some antique and collectibles shops to see what they say about it but not to sell it.

Also before anyone tells me the ivory trade is bad, illegal, etc. I’m aware and am probably in favor of more drastic wildlife/environmental protection policies than you. It’s legal to own and sell pre ban ivory in the US and unfortunately the elephant (or other animal) is already dead so I don’t believe this is causing any harm.
