Josh Waitzkin Please Return to Chess

Does anyone know why Josh Waitzkin got fed up with chess and went training oriental martial arts? He was/is a super talent who gave up competitive chess some years ago few points away of obtaining a grandmaster title. I think it's a shame because a man of his inteligence and talent who possessed chess strength of a GM would be among top 20 players in a world today, not to mention that he deprived us of some remarkable games that he could have accomplished. So pretty please with sugar on top: "get back to chess man, you owe it to us all!"

He was about 20 years old and an IM, wasn't he? Perhaps if he had become a serious professional player he could have become a GM, perhaps even join the top-500 or so. but to say he'd be in the top-20 is pure fantasy. Of the USA, perhaps...

it is his choice and to say that him quiting deprived us is selfish. leave him alone he does what he likes.

Man I don't care if he was an American or from Zimbabwe, I just ment that guy was promising. Personally, I root for Ivan Šarić, a young 18 yo GM from my  hometown Split - Croatia. He is yet to be heard of...
