White snaps the intruding cavalier. Now Black should perhaps return the favor on e5.
Last Night's Set-Up--OS Leuchars Set on HOS Jaques-Style Board

White now springs the trap, his bishop gliding to b5, pinning the knight and threatening to win material.

Black should give up his c-pawn by blocking the bishop's attack on c6, but instead his Queen's Indian bishop retreats to defend his knight. Now, however, c6 is wholly undefended...

and Black's queen has nowhere to flee when White's King's knight jumps to c6 and smothers her. Look at that smile on his face...

The upstart Black army crushed, and justice served, the Official Staunton Leuchars pieces retire to their barracks on display.

Chuck, your Leuchards set looks great on your HOS board. Perfect match. Thanks for the pics and annotations. What's the sqaure size of your board?

Very nice! I'm also wondering about the square size though? To me that board size looks a smidgen too big.

Gorgeous pieces and board, and nice photos. My favorite part, however, was the play by play announcing. Thanks for posting this, Chuck. It gave my day a nice start.

They look like 60 mm squares to me
This is a very nice presentation, Chuck.
I own the same set and was planning on using it for the first real game last Monday evening for our City Championship round. Alas, my opponent called me about an hour before begging off for the night as he had exams the next day that he had to study. We will be making up the game later.
I now have this set, with a Drueke linen folding board, waiting for the next round in a week and one day.
But getting back to this thread, I really like the looks of the set in play.

And for good reason! Well done steady steed.

Thanks, Mike! A Jaques repro board for a Jaques repro set.
Last night's set-up--Official Staunton's new Leuchars set, on a House of Staunton Jaques knock-off board, on the new Frank Camaratta HOS table, with a sixties Koopman clock.
The final game of the night. Fittingly, a London System Queen's Indian. Black's N has just hopped from f6 to e4, but in doing so has left his stable mate on d7 in the lurch.
