Light-Blue Roll-Up Board

Does anyone know where to find the boards shown in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZy5JSq816s

So far I have looked at USCFSales, Chesshouse, Amazon and American Chess Equipment, but to no avail.  I have found the rollup boards with blue and also royal-blue squares, but this video has put me on the prowl for this sky/baby blue color, as it seems very unobtrusive and easy on the eyes.  I'm beginning  think it might even be paper instead of vinyl, which would also be fine.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

I'm actually pretty sure it is paper.  I think JB used that same board in one of his videos and there was some discussion about it there.

Yes, in fact, here is the video.  He confirms it is a paper board in the comments:

Here's a quote from John in those comments that may help, too:

" It's a nice one, I agree. It was a paper board from (I think) the London Chess Centre, so you may want to try their website."

Yes, that's the paper board. I like the color!

I think that shade if blue is so cool!  I'm sure many of us here (Eyechess, rmacmillan, russbell, etc.) will buy it.

I would have to get one with the light, sky blue squares, since I've been promoting it...!

Shelby -

That sounds like a winner!

Can you be convinced to make them without the lines-borders separating/outlining the squares...?  I think the boards look better, less distracting, without the interior lines....i.e., simplicity!  Just like in the YouTube videos posted earlier...

Hi Shelby,

Yes - I would purchase a light blue board. Also, I see your site has a 12" maple board for a very reasonable price. Any interest in making a 14 or 17" board (either vinyl or wood) which can be used for analysis and the Marshall analysis pieces. I find the 1.25-1.5" squares on the 12" board a bit too small for these pieces - I think 14-17" would be perfect. Thanks.

Shelby -

I own the small Marshall series (2-7/8 inch King height, 1.3 inch King base) plastic analysis set which zm55 refers to.  It's a very nice analysis set.  A board with 1.75 inch squares (which I also have) would be perfect for this set.  I would also purchase another board (vinyl or wood) of this size as well, if available.

I am going to be doing Vinyl boards in that color for one of my customers.  What do you think of me making some of them for retail sale?

I would love to have a mousepad board in sky blue!

I finally saw the flex pad board from chesshouse.com which RussBell mentioned, but unfortunately sky blue is one they are out of stock on at the moment.

Shelby, what sizes do you make your boards in?  I would love a standard tourney size as well as an analysis size, as I too have the Marshall analysis set which is one of my favorite sets of all time, even if not regulation size.  But I also need a tournament size board for all my standard sets, including my beloved Drueke Player's Choice set.

I also second RussBell's notion that the sky blue board should not have dark borders around the squares, as the entire appeal of the color (IMO) is the total lack of distraction via contrast.

I noticed Chesshouse actually posted here.  Mr. Neff, is that really you?  If so, when will the sky blue flex pad boards be back in stock?  I also love the Moccasin offering, for all the same reasons as the sky blue.

@Benjamin_Brunson -

Yes that was Raphael Neff in post #7.

You can contact him at his website...

Hi Shelby,

12" is a nice idea but practically speaking the Marshall analysis pieces and other higher quality analysis pieces have a base that is too large for 1.25" squares - so I think you need a little bit larger squares to accommodate the higher quality plastic analysis pieces.

Hi Benjamin, All the extra colors listed are there for discussion and to generate interest in which colors we should make - like Sky Blue and Moccasin.

Yes I have, here it is with a ivory black "Fischer" set from HOS. Truthfully this set has many different monikers to it, One aspect that is common about this set is the design and it's quadruple weighted weighing almost 4 lbs. The board is a very light sky blue but I would like to  obtain the steel blue version from chesshouse which is of a deeper more profound blue color. Here are 4 photos showing the sky blue flex board from ChessHouse and the vinyl 75th anniversary USCF tournament board in blue with the HOS Fischer set.
