Looking for PC Sparing Opponent Where I Can Save My Game

Hi Everyone:

I'm looking for a good quality software - Fritz, ChessKing, Shredder, etc. where I can spar against the computer but also save the game mid-way.  Sometimes I don't have the time to complete a game all in one sitting, so I'm looking for a program where I can play a traditionally slower game (i.e. NOT blitz chess), but where I can aslo save the game and then come back to it later.  In looking online and at YouTube videos, I can't determine if there are PC sparing programs out that would allow me to do that.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I never really thought about that feature before. I know the Shredder GUI doesn't have that feature; I don't know about Fritz or Chess King. I know Chessmaster 10 could pause a game, but it couldn't save an in-progress game.

I tried using the SysInternals Process Explorer to suspend Arena. It worked, except Arena's internal clock kept running, which made that idea a bust.

I hope you find something.

Lucas Chess

Can use any time control you want and can adjourn it whenever you want.  When you restart the program later, it jumps right back to the game.  Easy as can be.  Note: this is for the rated play - you can adjourn but not cancel those games.

There are lots of ways to play the computer in Lucas Chess.  If you want computer opponents, I recommend looking no further.
