Anybody ever read?

Sadler
Recommended as general/all-purpose and value for money! (But try to have a look before you buy to see if it fits your expectations.)

There's one I can send for for $7.95 so I figured it might be worth a look see.

Stormbringer
I think I've got that one.
Conflagration_Planet

Well what do you think of it?

Stormbringer
Not sure if I have it. I've got about 60 books and only read 4

Okay.

I see very well. Take a look inside at Amazone. More than 500 pages of quality material for $7.95. You can not go wrong if you like what you see.

Is this the first mammoth to write about chess, woodshover?

Conflagration_Planet

Seems cheap enough.

I have one, and it's a collection of best-known chess games, all annotated. Great if you want to go through the classics.

Conflagration_Planet

I just sent for it.

Well, there are 2 Mammoth books by Burgess, The Mammoth Book of Chess and the Mammoth Book of the Greatest Chess Games Ever Played, I have both and they are excellent.

Stormbringer
Hi Trysts glad to see you out!! :-)
Conflagration_Planet

I sent for the first one you mentioned.

would definitely recommend both of those books very strongly - I have loads of books and those are two of the best.

I'll try the first, and see how it goes.

I have the "Mammoth Book of Chess" and find it to be an informative, wonderful overall guide/manual of the game.  It provides an "executive summary' of a large number of openings, tactics, endgame play, chess organizations, and on and on.  I find it to be a great addition to my chess library.Cool

Thanks. I just hope I can get into it.
