Marshall Fields set - info?

Hi, just received this set which is listed as a "Marshall Field" set. It's a small set with the King as 2.75" but looks well made for that size (perfect for analysis/travel). I dun have a board for this size though so will need to get one.

My post here is to get more background info on this set. It's called "Marshall Field" and the box has a "Made in France" sticker and supposed to have a "Marshall Field & Company" sticker but fell off this box (seller did inform me, and that's not a big deal for me anyway).

Now what I do know is that 1) this is not anything related to Frank Marshall (haha) and 2) it's called the "Marshall Field" set becoz these was mainly - or only? - sold thru Marshall Field dept stores back when they were available. I'm curious about the design ie whom it was based on or inspired from.

The design looks VERY SIMILAR to a French Lardy. The pumped out chest of the Knight, the elongated crown of the Queen, and the fact the Queen's crown is above the level of the King's. The pic posted by beachero in this thread https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/lardy-chavet-help-iding-this-jura-france-staunton-set looks almost exactly like this set but his was a larger set.

Here is a pic from the seller (haven't had time to take mine yet) and if you compare it with beachero's 3rd pic, almost dead ringer. I couldn't find much info on "Marshall Field" chess sets except a few archived post in worthpoint that listed such sets sold (in the past). Possible Lardy OEMed these to Marshall Field in their heydays?

Here's another pic (not mine) that shows the set in a different angle

I'd be interested in a set like this. Have you seen any others?

Marshall Fields was a very fashionable department store in Chicago. They had an extensive book and games section and sold high quality sets. I'm sure you got a good one

Marshall Fields imported sets from both Lardy and Chavet in the 60’s and 70’s. This particular version looks like a Chavet, because of the pie-pan queens coronet and the tops of the bishops. I have one that is unquestionably Lardy, with the sharper coronet and the bucktooth knights.

@Will ScarletMacaw - I found a Similar set a few weeks ago in a local Goodwill store -you may be able to find a similar set online also via Etsy or similar but your best bet may be to visit secondhand or antique stores...but it needs patience and there are no guarantees. (I've picked a few interesting sets over the years)
