Hello. I am close to pulling the trigger on an expensive, excellent MTM board, either from stock or to make sure I get all the woods and style I desire I might order a custom piece. However I am having difficulty getting a regular communication going with them. Is it just bad timing (holidays, well stocked, don’t want custom work right now ….?) Can someone comment and provide a review. Thanks.
I bought a wonderful end grain bog oak board from MTM earlier this year. I think their site is not the best and communication was a bit sporadic - it could be that the English speakers are not always around. The board I wanted was not in stock so I had to wait for spring to come because Andrei does not build boards in the winter - I guess due to heating, the wood can crack or expand. Then, when the board was built, it took months for me to get it. They use the Russian mail service rather than DHL, and there were numerous delays. In the end, the board (and a beautiful end grain cutting board I ordered at the same time) arrived, and I can attest that it was worth the wait.
The bog oak is 3,500 years old - in the early stages of being turned into crude oil I guess! My other hobby is colllecting fossils, so once I learned about bog oak boards, I had to get one.
Yep, I learned about the bog oak boards from Max's posts on this forum. Almost all of mtm's board are beautiful and tempting to me... The only ones I don't really like are the chaotic pattern boards - although I appreciate the craftsmanship that must go into them.
@MCH818, are the two boards from @MaxReaver from MTM? I love the thickness, rounded corners, and narrow (yet with coordinates!) borders. I'd take either of those!!
