Its a Mooslim set, they don't believe in religious symbols on chess pieces as do some American relegions as well.

That's interesting. I was going to make a King/Queen salt and pepper grinder set - perhaps 300mm high, but wasn't sure if the kings cross would get in the way with many people opting to grip over the top. Hmmm.... I'm not Muslim though.

I believe it's atheistic, without religious iconography and not Muslim.
I'm going with this guy here. 9kick9 sounded like CNN with his comment.

ChessBazaar has just offered the 4" Dubrovnik Set in the crimson stain with improvements:
what are the improvements, Mike? Looks like they changed the dimension of some of the piesces, and added more weight. Anything else?

Hi Frank:
Wider base pieces and taller rooks with 5 turrets. Check the CB website for all the specifications.

Hello everyone, I have ordered 4" Dubrovnik stained crimson version yesterday. I spoke with chessbazaar chat & they told me there are bunch of changes in this version. Quality of pieces is much more improved than the last lot, base & height of the chess pieces increased etc. Acc to their specifications sheet these are the two major changes :
- The chess pieces come with a bigger base size.
- There are 5 cuts in the turrets of the rook, depicting 5 regions of Croatia.
Desperately waiting for my pieces to come . .:)

I think Dubrovnik is a great design. I remember my father bought a Dubrovnik style wooden set for me in childhood. It looks recognizable like standard Staunton, but is different enough to generate interest in others and to look at.
By the way, does anyone know whether "Dubrovnik", "Yugoslavia", "Slave" and "Zagreb" are all referring to the same chess piece design, or is each of those a slightly different recognized design? I've seen each of those words used in the title of the item known as Dubrovnik.
Talk about Zagreb set did anyone catch the price of a real ebony Zagreb 3.75" K from House of Chess for $89.95 with free shipping right now? A real bargain for real ebony, but just my opinion.
