My experience with Chess Bazaar

"It's all your own fault."

"As a courtesy"

"they had no obligation to you"

"Some don't mind money. He might be one of them."

All of that is rude words trying to make "customer" to feel bad. That is my experience with ChessBazaar, and with some members here. Did "savvy"  people notice for instance that Chess Bazaar has price match policy and can beat any seller of Spanish Rechapados Ferrer boards by 10%? I wouldn't try wink.png  unpleasant experience; cheating; not keeping word.

Thank you all for the comments!

Is the chessbazzar site down or something!? I just tried to order a chess set, but the transaction was cancelled. I got a reply that authorization failed. which is weird, because my credit card hasn't expired.

When I ordered a set last week the same thing happened when I tried to charge it.  However, when I then chose PayPal (through which I can use my credit card), the transaction went through fine.

How did you manage to use PayPal from USA? When I choose PayPal I get a message that it is available only for Indian customers.

My bad. It was PayTab which was intended for Indian customers. So now I tried to make a purchase through PayPal, just like you suggested, but without success. So I assume there is something wrong with their website. It has to be. I might try again tomorrow.

Funtick19 you make a good case for shopping with Chessbazaar.  They certainly had no obligation to retroactively apply a sale, yet they gave you store credit, and they had no obligation to pay your countries import fees, yet they refunded most of it.  As for the board, you can find it cheaper, so what?  You didn't have to buy it from them.  You are complaining a lot for someone who was treated more than fairly.

They have obligation to apply "price match policy" published on their site. They have obligation to cancel my mistaken order so I can make new order with 45% discount. Instead, they preferred not to respond to my Emails for a few days; and finally responded (to my 8 Emails) with in-store credit offer which I can't use (I already have chess, I don't need more!)

Sorry mate. Did you read their Price match policy mate?
Low Price Match Policy
*We only guarantee this for online websites in USD and GBP as we can verify the claim by checking the price and the item description easily. This Guarantee is NOT VALID for offline, marketplaces, in-stores or in other currencies.
** Low price guarantee is NOT VALID on Spanish Chess Boards & Chess Clocks category w.e.f 1st January 2015.

This is the first thing you will see mate. See the second line. Again the mistake is yours. I am damn sure that their pieces are great value and affordable. And also their Indian boards not Spanish ones. happy.png

The "Mate" thing is a little too much Mohan.

Its British informal for a friend or companion. difficult for Americans to grasp😜

3 times in the first 3 sentences.  I grasped it, I grasped it!

I don't even know which English is taught to us, British or American. I think more British than American.

I ordered chess pieces and they were just fine. Even when they were 70% off. The only thing that I could have criticized would be a very small scratch on the white king. But one has to be realistic, the quality is only as good as the amount you pay. The money you save when buying from chess bazaar is the risk of having imperfections, and as I read, a bad service. So the whole thing might just be a bit of a gamble.

Thank you happy.png I made the board myself - I think I will post it on the forums separately later.

The pieces are called "The Empire II Luxury Series Staunton Chess Pieces in Bud Rose" on Chess Bazaar, but you can also find it by the name "empire redwood 4" on other sites

I set is very nice but that board... Man do I love that!

magictwanger

Like the pieces....LOVE THE BOARD!

For that price it seems a good set although the rooks are somewhat messed up in proportion. Generally, Chessbazaar quality is better than Royal Chess Mall.

Yawn!!

If you read what is written before seeing who wrote it, you would not dismiss it all.

I agree that for the price that set looks nice.  And the rooks do look a bit out of proportion to the rest of the set.

Chess Bazaar has really brought up their quality as well and it is certainly alright to express an opinion that their products seem better than one of the companies that were in the same class.  I am not saying it is that way, but I do know that if I were going to buy another Chess set Chess Bazaar would one of my better trusted companies.

I dismissed it because it's the same rancid statement that's been repeated a hundred times by the very same poster and, as every time before, without any personal experience given.

One issue is the use of the term "messed up" rather than "I prefer..."

MarllonTal

I bought a chess set from Chessbazaar and I've been waiting for more than a month for they to dispatch may order. They said it's taking this long due to the COVID-19 situation. Is anyone else here going through the same problem ?

MCH818

I have never bought anything from CB but I recently purchased the 3.5" Morphy from Staunton Castle and it was fast. My package was handed to DHL in 2-3 days and it arrived 5-6 days later. Unfortunately they sent me the distressed which is not what i ordered.
