You definitely have great taste!-
My experience with Chess Bazaar

I have to say I'm very happy with my first Chess Bazaar purchase.
-Ordered last Tuesday, Delivered in 5 days from India To Colorado!
-Packaging was very good. Each piece individually wrapped. Kings crosses wrapped separately, then the whole king wrapped.
- No flaws found, no tool marks, scratches or poorly finished areas, including inside the bishop mitre and around the rook crenelations.
- The green felt pads are thick and nice, although I think a bit too visible. Maybe they should have been cut slightly smaller in diameter to hide under the edge of the base?
- email question about order status was quickly answered
-The finish of the pieces is very smooth and beautiful. The wood grain is clear, and the finish is shiny, although a bit shinier on the rosewood than on the boxwood. I would like to get the boxwood a bit shinier.
-The color of the rosewood is more red than I expected which is a very pleasant surprise. It is really a beautiful color IMO.

Beautiful Steve, I love the mitre on the bishops
So do I. I originally intended to get a Jaques Reproduction set, but I thought my board, with it's light wood border, looks too modern for an antique looking set.
So I appreciate that this Sinquefield set is based in the traditional Staunton design of the antique Jaques pieces. The difference of course is the updated knight and the natural boxwood instead of the yellowish antiqued boxwood. Oh yeah, and the Rosewood instead of Ebony is the other deviation from the reproduction sets, although this set is also available in Ebony. Those differences make the whole set more modern, yet still traditional looking, and a better match for my board.

I think a blood red bud rosewood board looks perfect with any of the bud rosewood pieces. There's a difference in color (the boards are a bit brighter), but to have a small difference within the same color spectrum is actually helpful during gameplay.
[Yep, that's my set up: €200+ pieces on a €150 board on a €9.95 IKEA table ]
I'll be getting my first set with "antiqued boxwood" from CB soon, I'm curious how that'll turn out.
Speaking of finishes, CB offers a "Lacquer (glossy)" option for most of their sets. Their product images almost always show the buff version only. Has anybody had that "glossy option" for one of their sets, and how much does it affect the overall appearance?
That is a good color combo, and I noticed that Chess Bazaar uses that same board or a similar color board when displaying their rosewood sets.

@sound67, what do you do with all these sets? Do you have a board set up in your house where you alternate the sets, or do you have multiple boards set up around the house, or...?
Apologies if I'd mentioned this already......I was gifted the small second bedroom by my wife,as a hobby/chess room.It was easy! I just told her women are much smarter than men and the room was mine.
I placed all my coffers and chess boxes on the shelves, which are attached to the desk/computer and bought a nice coffee table "and" an acrylic dust cover(26x26x10 inches) to rotate all my sets under.
I bought a piece of chess art to sit above the table/chess set up.I own 20 sets overall(3 are travel size) and 3 really nice, but different boards......Looks great.
Got the Edinburg set today,in Bud RW.....I was shocked at the quality of fit and finish. No marks of any kind and simply gorgeous......At $115 shipped(signature required....nice touch) it is a STEAL!
Royalchessmall might be a good mfgr to keep an eye on,based on the extremely high overall quality of this new Edinburgh set that I just got......I am still amazed at the price/quality value of the set.

i was surprised to pick up my knight today and it came apart. This is not a big deal to fix, but 2 things to note:
1. There is no evidence of any glue residue that I can see.
2. The dowel in the base is much smaller diameter than the hole in the body. I would have guessed a tight friction fit for the dowel would be the way they would do it. Not only would it be more secure, it would ensure that body is centered on the base.
C'mon,it's no biggie.A little carefully placed glue and done.....I've had this happen on a few C.B. sets.

I agree no biggie. I already put a few drops of glue and wrapped it with a rubber band before I left for work. It will be good to go when I get home.

5 miniute cure JB weld will do the job and you can play right away.
I used this:
Hey thanks for that! Maybe a little cramped, but not bad!
