The House of Staunton Craftsman Series set in Blood Rosewood.

Rosewood and Maple board, magnetic, by Colorado Woodworker on Etsy.

VTek clock by Shelby of American Chess Equipment.

Absolutely beautiful set!  Blood Rosewood has such amazing depth, love it!

Thanks, guys.

The board is in 4 pieces or quadrants which have magnets in the inner edges.  They kind of snap together to make the whole board.  When apart the quadrants can be stacked.  This is why they are sometimes called a tower board.

I have 2 from Brad of Colorado Woodworker, this one and another in Walnut and Maple.

I also own some of this design from The Chess House.  They are all Walnut and Maple.

How do you like the clock? I'm always concerned about presses not registering or feeling unsatisfied without a chunky press of the button.

Very pretty pieces. Agreed with @GrandPatzerDave's comment on the depth.

Yes, the depth of that wood is very nice.

The VTek is an upgraded Chronos design clock.  In fact they have the same button types with a good press.

Oh, interesting. I thought it was a solid state touch sensor system.

Edit: Oh, duh, that's the ZMF I'm thinking of. Sorry about that!

Nice set! I am just curious why you prefer this over your Camaratta Cooke Luxury set?

No surprise, considering you continual demonstration of good taste....Super looking combo.

P.S.....Nice that you are feeling well and out and about.

Thanks, all.

I like this better because of the Blood Rosewood.

I actually like the Cooke better for its sizing.

I was thinking yesterday.  Is it against the rules to have more than one favorite?

Next week should show my Noj GM Pavasovic set in Walnut.  And that is a favorite.  Of course I might bring out the Cooke as a favorite, if it’s legal here.

I agree on the chessmen and the board, nice looking classic set. It seems that Rosewood not an option anymore at HouseOfStaunton. What are the dimensions of this Rosewood and Maple board?

Avatar of Eyechess

The board has 2.25” squares.

Haha! It is your thread so you can decide how many favorites are allowed.

@Eyechess - lovely set. I do love a knight with its head bowed down; purposely trotting onto the battlefield. 😉.
On favourites … usually the last pieces purchased 😆.

My favourite on any given day is usually dependant on my mood. 😊

Yeah the Craftsman set almost seems to be a tad too tall even on a board with 2.25" squares.
