Board looks good Beshawn. I think if you rub it with some Minwax paste finishing wax, you will be happy with the result. It will feel much smoother and be shinier.
Is that set with a 3.75" king? Looks like a pretty much perfect fit with your board.

I see you decided on the grain running vertically. Noticed on Etsy he shows it running horizontally. I bought one of the first boards off of Brad and had the grain run horizontally. Now I do not know which way for sure I want this one to run. Again very nice board. I will be ordering one maybe in about a month.
I just had a brilliant idea for you. Since these boards are solid wood you could have him make you a 2 sided board. Mine basically is 2 sided except for the edge treatment on the border. You flip my board with vertical grain over, put the dark Square in the left corner, and you have a horizontal grain board! You don't have to decide, have both! Here is a picture of the bottom of my board

Brilliant! You might apprise Brad Borkowski of your idea so he can make a point of offering the two-sided boards (i.e., finishing both sides the same) which would allow the option of playing with horizontal or vertical grain orientation, as the mood dictates!
Brad Borkowski makes excellent boards, when I saw this one on the website and on his recent sales on a 15% discount I purchased. Same board, woods and coved edge. Excellent results. I now own 3 of his chessboards, all beautifully crafted BTW just by viewing these photographs. Surprisingly light for a 2.25" square 18" squared chessboard. Nice contrast of wood selections. The beauty of the cherrywood outer frame is that it will darken a little with age giving it a nicer contrast and patina border against the playing field. Good job Brad!
@ forked: Yes I believe it is and it has a more pronounced visible grain pattern similar to the ash border chessboard of the same style he sells on Etsy. I liked that one as well but thought the cherry wood had the better overall contrast distinctioni between the border frame and playing field. I'm quite pleased with this one. Your's is quite nice as well with less woodgrain and smoother finish appearance showing on the outer frame border.

Is that maple and walnut? Brad does great work I got a board from him years ago when he first started making them. Your board looks great.
Peruvian walnut and maple for the playing field and cherrywood for the coved outer frame border. Thank you TundraMike and Svashtar for your comments.
Beautiful! What woods are the squares? Thanks for sharing.
Since he bought the same board I did, I will quote myself from post #2:
"Its a Peruvian Walnut and Maple Drueke Style Chessboard and has a cherry border. "
His maple and cherry both look a bit darker and maybe a bit redder than mine, and it looks very nice. But I think the camera and/or lighting might have something to do with that. The pictures I posted were in natural sunlight and that can make a big difference in how colors and shades appear.
I am also very pleased with my board. I put 3/4" round felt pads in the corners on the bottom, and gave it a nice polish with paste wax, and it sits on my dining table for me to see and enjoy on a daily basis.
I'm glad to see people supporting Brad. He makes a nice board and is a nice guy doing this as a side job. He is a high school wrestling coach.
Anyway, good purchase QtoQlevel3. I'm sure you will enjoy your new board!
Thanks I believe the board has the same hue of color in natural daylight take a look. The felt rounds are a good idea I have them on all my other boards as well. I have to choose which color to go with for this one probably a caramel colored felt round cutout perhaps 1.5" in diameter.
That's a very nice looking board Q !!
I love my CWW board....
Brazilian Cherry & Maple squares, Walnut apron....2-1/4 in squares.....pieces are GM Blitz Set from ChessBazaar...
That's a nice wood combo Russ. What is it?
I've really been wanting to buy a nice antique Jaques replica, and if I ever pull the trigger on that, I think I will need a more antique looking board to go with it. I'm sure Brad would work with me on coming up with the right design and colors. I think both the light squares and the border would be darker than what I have now.

Thanks forked !
I added the description of the board and pieces to my post above with the picture...
While I find that the horizontal grain shows off the grain more obviously, for the same reason I feel it also tends to be more visually distracting than the vertical grain.
