Needless to say, I highly recommend this guy if you are thinking about getting a new board.  (I never met him before today and have no association with him or his business - I know someone will question me on this).  ....

I bought a board from his as well and am very satisfied with it. The squares are purpleheart and birds eye maple.

Just received my board from Brad it is just beautiful, thought I'd post a few pics.

Couldn't be happier.

What are the woods if I may ask that he used for your "Drueke" styled board?

The contrast is stunning!

Very nice!  Is that a color combo you came up with yourself?  I don't think I've seen that combination of woods on his website.  What woods are they?

I'm also wondering, who makes the Dubro set?  I'm guessing your board has 2.25" squares?

Chessreader156
The board is Brazilian cherry and maple, squares 2.25" the set is chess bazaar

What's the border Peruvian walnut? I ask because Brad is constructing a new board for me at the present and that looks like Peruvian walnut on the outer frame. My board will have some of that same wood too.

Walnut on the boarder, please post pictures of your board, when it arrives, Brad does great work.

The set is GM Blitz set from Chessbazaar.....

Because the set is made to be more resistant to the abuse of blitz, the Knight is a single, solid piece of wood (vs most wood sets where the Knight is made in two pieces - base & body), and the tips of the Queen's coronet are slightly blunted so that they don't chip off as easily as sharp tips would.  Also the bases are slightly broader than many other sets, for increased stability.  I don't use it for blitz, I simply liked the design.

The grain in all 4 corners lines up.  I put a coat of paste wax on it, and it is smooth like glass and a little shinier.

Hi. Really don't mean to be a downer or to be rude, and Im delighted that you love your board. That's really the only thing that matters. BUT...I couldn't help noticing in your pic the roughly finished edging on this board. I can see the saw marks running along the side, for example. The original Drueke boards had a lovely round contour around the edges, which really seems to set them apart from these boards. Maybe I'm missing something or the pic doesn't do justice to how these look to the naked eye in real life. But I just thought I would put it out there as an observation based on this pic.

Had to bring this thread back to life,as I'm considering one of this guy's Drueke style boards....Nice stuff.

After all this time, are you owners still satisfied?

Thx

I just bought a board from this guy and am extremely disappointed in the quality. I came on here to see if anyone else had the same experience and found this thread. The edges aren't sanded. The squares don't even line up. The guy is a complete amateur.

@brianmccann -

I suggest to contact CCW explaining the issue and send him the photos of the problems with your board.  I believe he will offer to work things out to your satisfaction and even refund your money if you request it.
