And keep in mind that NONE of the sets offered by Studio Ann Carlton are this set's design. Only the ones linked from Demetz Patrick are the same, and those are far more expensive.

That would be relevant if baddogno and I were discussing the prices realised for Demetz Patrick sets on Ebay but we weren't. We were discussing the prices realised for Studio Ann Carlton sets on Ebay.

The reserve adds an air of mystery and excitement to the auction.

Maybe for the seller. As a buyer, I find it adds a degree of frustration and annoyance — I always find myself thinking "If you want x dollars for it, just start the bidding at x, so I know right off the bat if I'm wasting my time or not."

thank you everyone - except Johnmuscha.  I think ive seen that same post on other forum here.  You shouldnt commet if you dont know what your talking about.  Im a single mom and how would you like it if i told you to sell something for $20 and then you found out you could get alot more for it.  Being a single parent you need to do what you can for your child.

to all the others:  I bought set becouse i thought it looked cool in an auction in Phila over 15yrs ago.  it was in a display case for many years and was a great conversation piece.  But times are changing and kids need more then a cool conversation pice on the wall.  LOL

you guys were all great help giving me a few directions to look at see if its any of the ones you listed.  Oh how i would love for it to be the D.Patrick one, but im not that lucky.  lol

i just need some idea of what i have, so that if i do decided to sell i dont sell in a garge sale for $20, when i cld get $200 etc.

Thanks again everyone, i really appreiacte it.

Why are you beating up on Johnmuscha — I can't see anything he wrote that reads anything like what you're accusing him of — in fact, no one did. I wrote that you might get $20 but I never told you to sell it for that and Johnmuscha told you to set a reserve on any auction you might run.

Settle down, toots.  Single moms are usually uptight, crabby people.

Shouldn't you be looking after your child rather than wasting time yammering on some internet forum?

I see you've played no chess here either.

Demetz-Patrick confirmed it's is one of there's.

It looks like Demetz-Patrick is selling Anri and Lepi carvings in addition to their own. My information from the chess collector group says all of the chess sets Demetz-Patrick is selling are by Octo but maybe that name is not so well-known it's worth attaching to the sets, or maybe the group doesn't exist anymore/changed their name to Demetz-Patrick? (My similar set is from Dolfi. I never heard of Demetz-Patrick back when I was an actvie chess collector and it seems like a weird name for one of these carving groups... usually they're two syllables and end in "i".)

Wait. Found Octo. It still exists and is still making this set: http://www.otco.it/holzschnitzereien/eng/products.asp?Lang=en&Src=&MainCat=3&SubCat=&Page=2# (but with riders on the knights) Demetz-Patrick looks like a distrubutor to me.
