I hope it doesn't disappoint. I will be using it in tournament play in a couple days. I would imagine if you need a quantity for scholastics they would work with you. I just was so happy when the pre-set #3 was the exact setting of the upcoming tournament.
New Clock Out?

I am sure they will be promoting the clock more & more as we get to the Holiday season. $29.95 seems like a great price point for this lower level entry clock and WSC always has free shipping on orders of $50 or more which isn't hard to accomplish.
I did not receive any price break or future price break from WSC and also not affiliated with them of course.
I still cannot find this clock on their website for $29.95.
Clicking on the link in the first post I see:
And a search reveals nothing for 29.95.
The $29.95 price was when they were having a New Clock 25% discount. That is now gone and replaced by a 10% off the complete order.
So today this clock will cost $35.99 or very close.
Still at roughly $36 this is still a clock in the lesser priced category along with the DGT NA.

Join the WSC club on chess.com. They usually have a fantastic discount around October/November. I believe one year they had 25% off anything. If you are in the market especially for a high end clock you can't do better than 25% off and free shipping. They have great customer service. Not saying they will have another 25% off but sometimes they have a better discount to chess.com members who join their club.

I can honestly tell you after playing a game today with the DGT/NA as my opponent was Black and wanted to use it and then the afternoon game with my new WSC clock
(2nd time I used it this tournament) Anyday I will choose the WSC clock, We have a 30 second increment (bonus) with 90/G and it is a pleasure seeing the hour/Minutes/Seconds unlike the DGT/NA which only displays it with less than 20 minutes. Also the increment is much nicer with the WSC clock since you can see the 30 seconds being added unlike the DGT display. Will it take over the top clicks not at all, but it is an inexpensive alternative and it seems WSC might have had some input on the clock.
Nicest clock I saw was a royal blue color V-TEK. That clock stood out body and display. Not that I need to brown nose you Shelby but these two clocks are in different classes obviously. You have the bread and want one clock for sure get the V-TEK, I like the colored ones myself especially blue.
I arrived at home an hour or so from being gone for three days to find my Wholesale Chess Clock waiting for me.
I agree with everything Mike has said about this clock and then some. As an under $40 clock, this is excellent. This clock is definitely better than the DGT NA.
The display is excellent with as good a contrast and look at the more expensive Chronos and V-Tek clocks.
The size of the display looks bigger as well. I gave away my DGT NA last year so I don't have one handy for a direct comparison, but I assure you this display is easier to see than the DGT NA.
It is also very nice to see the seconds as well as all the other numbers.
The clock also feels just as sturdy as any DGT clock. The rocker arm buttons feel smooth and solid, as any rocker arm could feel.
The clock sets very similarly to the DGT clocks with the timing control menu printed on the bottom of the clock. There is only one, well two I guess, user saved settings. But this is not an expensive clock and we should not expect it to have all the options of one of those.
AT my first experience with this clock I am quite impressed. If someone would now ask me what one clock I would suggest they own, this Wholesale Chess clock is definitely one of three that I would mention. The other two being Chronos II and V-Tek.
If someone is concerned about price, then this clock is a no-brainer choice.
Comparing costs of the three at their least expensive option this clock is easily three to four times less expensive than the other two. Yes, you could easily buy three of these clocks to one Chronos with some money to spare. And you could buy four WSC clocks to one V-Tek with some change to spare.

I think it will be a good clock for clubs. WSC always gives a decent discount when buying in quantity.
Now as long as it holds up.... Used it twice so far when I had black. Should have one more tomorrow. Very simple to use. Time will tell as far as it holding up but the printed circuit boards in inexpensive electronics usually holds up. Transistors and resistors whether or not assembled in the USA are all imported. They stopped making chips and inexpensive electronics many moons ago in the USA.

Does this timer add increments in the same way as the DGT NA, i.e., before the move?
IOW, would, for example, 3/2 blitz show as 3.02 at the beginning of the game, or as 3.00?

yes it does and I also showed it to the TD and he said to him it is preferable to the DGT/NA because of the second digits. Also it is much darker on the display, easier to see. You start out with...G/90 inc 30 of 1 hr 30 min and 30 sec. That is setting #3 by the way. The owner of WSC told me he made sure everything was good before they put their own name on the clock. Come with 1 yr warranty and you know how fast they are at WSC if it needs to be turned around. I doubt if the clock is serviceable besides batteries, which go in and out super easy, so I am guessing hey would give you a new one in that time frame but not totally sure.
Yes, after playing and using this clock more today, I am quite impressed. This clock is nicer than the DGT NA.
As Mike just said above the display is much darker in the contrast on the display and is very easy to see from a distance on the clock.
thanks for the reviews but I think it needs more field use before it can top the DGT NA, it looks like it has some technical advantages but adoption and time will tell I guess, the DGT is a proven work horse.
Today I used this Wholesale Chess clock for my weekly 2 hour blitz session with my friend, Wayne. Here are my thoughts:
1. The display is excellent. It is as good as the Chronos or V-Tek clocks. And it is better than any of the DGT clocks. The contrast is great so that you can easily see the digits on first glance. It also is noticeably nice that the seconds are showing at all times.
2. Setting the clock is a bit more awkward than setting the DGT NA. The delay settings are at the end of the 30 something list of presets. And the fastest, single time control with delay is 60 minutes with a 10 second delay. This required me to change the time from this setting to our usual 5 minute with 5 second delay. Once saved it stayed saved and that was good.
3. To reset the clock for a new game, we had to pick up the clock and turn the clock off then on again for the reset. The last time used was still there and it then took only 2 presses of the center pause button to get the game started from there. However the Chronos that we normally use only needs a press of the center button a few times to reset for a new game and we certainly do not need to pick the clock up between games. The DGT NA is the same in this except the on/off button on the DGT is a push button where on the WSC clock there is a slider switch.
4. The clock is about the same size as the DGT NA and DGT 3000 on the table. The rocker arm also works the same with the WSC clock and the DGT models.
5. The clock feels just as sturdy and reliable as the DGT NA and the DGT 3000. So barring any electronics falling apart on the inside the WSC should hold up just as well.
6. The WSC clock takes two AA batteries. The bottom access door is the same as the DGT 3000, identical in fact.
So, all in all I would say this new inexpensive clock is a winner. I know that if I needed any for my scholastic club, this would be the first clock I would look to buy.

Not including the VTEK in this as SHelby says it is made in the USA and not just assembled here.
As far as I know all Printed Circuit Boards and made in China or a similar place. Your TV is China your new I Phone which will be coming out at $1100 is 100% China. Your Computers, laptops, notebooks.
At first someone tried to trask it saying it was from China. THe next flight you go on the Transistors, resistors, capacitors and mostly all the electronics come from China.
I do not need to test this clock for 5 years to say it is better, by then I very well may be dead as I am in the last years of my life.
At the tournament i went to this weekend even the DGT owners admitted lock was better hands down than the DGT/NA but to top it off the TD was so impressed for a low cost clock that he copied down the name and where I bought it from. He liked the fact the display was much easier to read as it is darker and was super happy the seconds showed on the clock unlike the DGT/NA. He said this eases the job of adding or subtracting 2 minutes to a side (I am not a TD so I have no idea what he was talking about).
I am not trashing the DGT/NA and have one that is almost new. I like my DGT/NA. ALl I m saying is this one is better and the owners of WSC do not know who I am or as that matter the makers of the Leap clock. But after the tournament I can bet you that WSC sales on this clock go up as all who looked at it liked it very much and all who used it also.
Took me 2 minutes t get running and since the setting was #3 it took me another 5 seconds to set the clock. I did not even spend 5 minutes with the manual it is so easy. I am sure though when I need to set a custom setting I will be visiting the manual once again.
I did enjoy seeing that VTEK in royal blue sitting at the chess table. Hats off to the lucky owner, That is on my wish list in the next batch to get made. I hope between the manufacturer and the owner of the clock they can get the retail price down to $124.99 with profit still left. I think that would increase the sales, some chess vendors give you free shipping if over $50 or $100 depending so freight isn't a factor in the final price although yes you are still indirectly paying for it as nothing is free.

Just to be clear (to me at least), which of the following WSC clocks is being referred to in this thread?...
Wholesale Chess Advanced Digital Game Timer with Bonus & Delay - $39.99...
- OR -
Wholesale Chess Basic Digital Game Timer with Bonus & Delay - $24.99...
wiscmike and I are both talking about the advanced clock pictured above.
After playing a couple of hours of blitz with a friend, using this clock, I must remark at how clear and distinct the display is.

I am not a TD but the TD was impressed and said he did not like the DGT/NA for a couple of the reasons stated above. He liked this as a better alternative. I am sure DGT only hads to make an adjustment to the display , darker and capable of showing seconds and then it will be right back fighting it out. It would not surprise me to see this coming out soon. Only because the DGT/NA has come down in price considerable and that tells me they are trying to clear the old out for the new. But that is just conjecture on my part. The discount now you can get a DGT/NA is pretty good. as you can see 4 vendors are at the same price and probably making a profit as I think the clock could be a close out $35.95 and free Prime Shipping that is a deal as it ships PRIORITY. https://www.amazon.com/North-American-Chess-Clock-Timer/dp/B00312D2OU/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1500949319&sr=1-1&keywords=chess+clocks
My clock is coming and from Mike's review I look forward to this being an improvement to the DGT NA.
I feel we need at least one more clock in this price range on the market.
