New computer: New Chess SW needed

Hello Folks,

Just Bought a new PC (Core 2 duo, 4 GB, 500GB) and want to install some chess sw on it.

What would be the best sw combo (databases, engines, online chess, analysis, etc)?

Fritz or Rybka and other similar doubts keep bugging me...

Thanks in advance for your valuable input!

nobody?Foot in mouth

Streptomicin

sw would be software?

There is not much for you to chose from.

ChessMaster, Fritz or Rybka.. Just pick one.

BigAlex

I already have Chessmaster 10th and will try to install it on Vista.

Since it is a core 2 duo I guess Deep Rybka or Deep Fritz would suit better. And what about databases?

Scarblac

I use Scid as database, it's great (and free).

BigAlex

Ok.

The goal is to have the most effective Software suite.

Thanks,

Scarblac

And what is your budget?

BigAlex

Not that much.... In fact I am downloading some torrents and hope they are trojan free....

But probably I would buy them if they were sold here in Brazil... Maybe Amazon delivers..

Just downloaded and intalled Deep Rybka 3. (860MB ISO) and it is running smothly on both processor cores. Installed the good and old Babaschess interface and I am done for a while.

I wil take a look at the Database that came with Rybka and then maybe install the Mega Database 2009.

Edited....

I doubt that Rybka db functions are even close to as good as SCID.I basically just use scid with Toga/stockfish1.5 and free db. I have a cleaned up db with about 4.3 million games very uptodate.

But it is amazing that you just "got" Rybka3..

I would like to do that too without too much hassle care to show me a way...Wink

Just sent you a PM.
