Loving this hybrid clock concept. https://youtu.be/Oh8G-xpRyq8    It’s an interesting combination.  Just ordered one on Kickstarter. Hope to see it come to life.

Only useful for informal play. Because it is basically a bracket for a smartphone, you’d never be able to use it for tournament play.

Someone has their negative pants on.

you might be right @cringeblunderman but it's weird because the spirit of the "no phones in playing hall rule" is to prevent talking on phones, texting or getting help over text, or worse still running to the bathroom to check what stockfish suggests. none of which are possible when a TD docks this in airplane mode confirmed and then starts your clock. both players and the TD can see it (vs hiding a phone in your sock and running somewhere to cheat), and of course, it isn't really a telephone or sms device when in airplane mode. at that point it's just a clock, in safe plain sight of everyone. but you're probably right if a TD goes by the letter of the rule, rather than the intent of the rule.

🤷🏻‍♂️

A cool device. The only thing is the shipping to Europe: 30 dollars for one device, 60 for two. Why they can’t combine the shipping?

They're trying very hard to promote this gimmick....

There are several threads in this forum about this clock already...

How much pounding during a bullet game can this cradle for your expensive cell phone (or the cell phone itself) withstand before it breaks?  Or the phone gets knocked over and/or goes flying....

I don’t think the cellphone will break or get knocked over. You don’t touch the cellphone but the basis, and the whole construction is very stable and well designed. It is a great alternative to the digital chess clocks and it is just amazing that it took so long to for someone to come to this idea.
