Went to purchase this set from ChessHouse, and it is no longer for sale - apparently they ran into some IP issues. A shame, it was a solid set!

"IP issues": is this confirmed?  I asked about this very thing when I saw their last few sets on sale at a 50% discount.  The reply was they weren't aware of any problems and the set had been a good seller.  I didn't press the question - maybe I should have.

Well, yes… I confirmed it happy.png

Before posting, I called up ChessHouse and spoke with one of the individuals there, who shared the update.

uh oh. Is it possible I did them in with this very post? Maybe someone from World Chess or FIDE saw this post and decided to take action...

Quite possibly, but don’t be too hard on yourself! If they didn’t have the rights, then it was bound to happen eventually.

Hi,

It looks like the link to the chesshouse FIDE style pieces does not work anymore.

I'm looking for FIDE style chess pieces. Could someone share some links where i could get them? I would prefer an alternative to the world chess FIDE set as it seems to be quiete expensive and not of very high quality.

I really like the design of the knight in this set and would like to buy a similar set, so if someone could help me out. That would be great! happy.png

Thank u for the reply, but does are the world chess pieces. I'm looking for alternatives that look similar.

@komilodile, I'm not aware of any manufacturers still producing copied alternatives to the official offering. Having owned both the Official World Chess Pieces (still own), and the reproduction pieces from Chess House (damaged knights, missing pawn -> returned), the official pieces are (in my opinion) unmatched in every category I can think of (quality, proportions, carving, finish, weight, balance, feel, playability, visibility, et cetera). For additional context, I compared both iterations at the same time, and the official pieces have become my most played and broken in, and for good reason... they're an absolute joy to handle!

While on the topic, Chess House's and World Chess' customer service is up there with the best of them. Chess House offered to send replacement knights and the missing pawn at no cost, while World Chess (first received set had multiple issues) hand-picked, inspected, and sent me an entirely new set on their dime.
